Primary Purpose
Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Law School Marketing and Communications at the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law the Multimedia Content Specialist will develop curate write and edit compelling and engaging content for multiple platforms and publications including news stories blogs social media campaigns email campaigns digital newsletters websites videos events and the universitys magazine. The Multimedia Content Specialist will have a deep understanding of news and its relationship and application to social media and digital communications to attract prospective students and engage employees donors alumni supporters and key influencers to become advocates and champions. This experienced and versatile communicator will assist in enrollment marketing efforts for multiple departments at the law school including academic programs and the Salzburg study abroad programs. This position is located on the Sacramento Campus and will work in-person on campus. Established in 1924 University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law is a private not-for-profit law school in Californias capital city. McGeorge offers a full-time and evening JD program an LLM degree a JSD degree an MPA degree an MPP degree and an MSL degree.
Essential Functions
Establish coordinate and execute social media strategy for the law school under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Law School Marketing and Communications. Cultivate data-driven high-impact and results-oriented enrollment marketing practices to ensure annual enrollment of a high-achieving and diverse student body within the JD program and LLM program. Capture create and edit captivating high-quality visual images to promote the law school. Record and edit compelling videos to be used across various platforms including websites social media digital newsletters and media pitches. Videos should be in alignment with university brand goals and objectives. Develop major story and feature ideas that elevate University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law regionally and nationally; creates and edits an extensive and wide array of compelling and interesting news and feature stories web and magazine features profiles bios newsletter content blogs captions and speeches of varying lengths. Make decisions and recommendations regarding content direction and selection content placement and timing. Has a keen sense of curiosity in finding story ideas and knows how to tease out content from a variety of sources. Identifies stories that are media worthy and works with the Assistant Dean of Law School Marketing and Communications on pitching. Highly adept at researching and gathering data and market intelligence finding sources conducting interviews; fact checks all content with multiple sources. Can easily work with senior leaders throughout the organization and cultivate strong relationships and networks with coworkers community members and university colleagues to identify potential story ideas and other areas of content as well as to seek out information. Manages digital newsletters which entails writing layout distribution and analytics. Coordinate robust email marketing campaigns. Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of email marketing efforts using various tools and metrics such as web analytics email open rates click-through rates conversion rates etc. and provide regular reports and recommendations for improvement. Plan implement and assess marketing campaigns (email print and digital) to external audiences. Create and develop graphic design materials for the law school. Conceptualize develop and implement graphic design in marketing campaigns and collateral as needed. Takes initiatives from concept to completion to inform and engage key stakeholders while ensuring the highest possible quality and consistency in look and feel for all projects. Track the course of marketing initiatives analyze and present results. Propose corrective actions as appropriate. Update maintain and recommend solutions for optimizing law school communications to internal and external audiences. Supervise student employees and temporary employees as needed; delegate tasks approve timesheets create work schedules and oversee their work product. Initiate and facilitate collaboration between different departments on behalf of the Law School Office of Marketing and Communications. Ensure visual and verbal consistency of materials produced by the law school. Ensure workflow is timely and efficient. Handle confidential materials and situations with sensitivity discretion and independent judgement. Follows universitys editorial standards branding guidelines and accessibility standards. Proofreads and edits content for accuracy clarity consistency grammar and editorial style. Manage special projects and other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in journalism English marketing communications professional writing or relevant field. Two (2) years of work experience with AP style journalistic writing and news reporting for a variety of audiences. Two (2) years of experience shooting and editing photography and videography. One (1) year of experience developing content for social media channels (including but not limited to Instagram Facebook LinkedIn X and YouTube).
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in journalism English marketing communications professional writing or relevant field. Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Strong writing editing proofreading and photography/videography skills and the ability to work well under tight deadlines. High level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Premiere Pro and InDesign. Experience with Canva or a similar graphic design platform. Experience working with content management systems and email marketing applications. Experience writing marketing copy for various forms of marketing collateral email marketing campaigns social media and advertisements. Experience using analytics software such as Google Analytics. Experience working in a higher education or agency setting. Experience using social media platforms. Familiarity with evaluating hiring and managing outside vendors and/or freelance creative resources. Excellent organizational analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
Work Schedule
Work performed during standard business hours. Occasional evening and weekend availability will be required to capture photos at campus events and activities. Regular scheduled hours will be Monday through Friday forty (40) hours a week. This is an in-person position.
