Job Description

Description
GCIs Traffic Engineer II will administer all traffic sensitive network elements with the purpose of cost effectively meeting quality of service (QOS) objectives throughout the voice network. Analyze studies reports and network health validate accuracy communicate and facilitate changes.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AT ALL LEVELS:
  • Number inventory management.
  • Analyze network traffic and maintain number resources.
  • Perform traffic analysis of network components.
  • Conduct network traffic problem solving.
  • Produce necessary reports to support management engineers account representatives and other companywide stakeholders.
  • Prepare traffic analysis and network health summary reports for executive management on a periodic and as needed basis.
  • Prepare traffic studies for major business customers as needed.
  • Communicate changes for switch translations traffic studies trunking analysis bandwidth usage and network health.
  • Maintain accurate documentation tracking network addressing assignments network routing changes wireless roaming updates CLLI codes and all other items related to traffic orders billing records and network changes.
  • Order writing and provisioning.
  • Write and enter Metasolv work orders to facilitate network changes.
  • Review the LERG.
  • Order SS7 services and connectivity wireless roaming supporting and maintaining number resources including the Telephony Number Inventory in the various systems LERG RND CLONES and BIRRDS databases NTAS and assisting with network forecasts.
  • Forecasting Facility ID management Demand & Facilities inventory within various systems.
  • Validating accuracy of Call Detail Records for billing purposes.

    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate abstract technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

    • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations.
    • Ability to analyze workload establish appropriate priorities and set measurable and achievable goals.
    • Knowledge of telecommunications technologies such as: Switching Circuit and Broadband Transport Wireless Networks Tariffs and Call Detail Record Billing.

Additional Job Requirements:

This is an intermediate level position within the discipline demonstrating broad knowledge and proficiency in areas of responsibility. Performs moderately complex tasks and job duties receiving general instruction on routine work and new assignments. Works under moderate supervision with latitude for independent judgment. Supports higher level staff in implementing more complex projects.

Additional Competencies:

  • Ability to independently make and implement routine operational decisions.
  • Ability to effectively lead moderately complex projects while managing day-to-day tasks and requests.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of telecommunications technologies such as: Switching Circuit and Broadband Transport Wireless Networks Tariffs and Call Detail Record Billing.
  • Understanding of the Statistical Analysis of Traffic Flows and Number Resource Management.
  • Exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel Access and Visio.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: *A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mathematics or related field. *
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a relevant field. *
  • Experience within telecommunications or a related industry such electronics networking computer programing.

Preferred:

  • Relevant telecom industry or job specific certifications.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel between retail store locations offices worksites or other locations as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work is primarily sedentary requiring daily routine computer usage.
  • Ability to work shifts as assigned work in standard office/home office setting and operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to accurately communicate information and ideas to others effectively.
  • Physical agility and effort sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively.
  • Ability to make valid judgments and decisions.
  • Available to work additional time on weekends holidays before or after normal work hours when necessary.
  • Must work well in a team environment and be able to work with a diverse group of people and customers.
  • Virtual workers must comply with remote work policies and agreements.

Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the core business hours to respond to the immediate emergency.
