About this opportunity:
The Senior Data Engineer is essential in developing and maintaining the infrastructure that supports large-scale data processing and analysis on data platforms. They are responsible for building and optimizing data pipelines ensuring data quality and enabling advanced analytics capabilities.
What youll do:
Design and construct high-performance reusable data architectures for ETL and data processing workflows utilizing CI/CD on modern data platforms
Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable data models and pipelines on these modern data platforms
Develop and maintain data pipelines ensuring the efficient flow of data from various sources and utilizing Databricks for complex data processing
Implement ETL processes for data transformation and loading ensuring data quality and integrity and leveraging Databricks capabilities for data warehousing
Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to provide data in a ready-to-use form for analysis and insights using Datasphere to facilitate data sharing
Optimize data storage and retrieval mechanisms to support efficient querying and reporting particularly in Databricks environments
Maintain data governance and compliance by implementing data validation and quality checks within the data models on these platforms
Monitor data systems performance and resolve any issues or bottlenecks ensuring high availability and reliability of data services
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Bachelors degree in computer science Engineering or a related technical field
8 years experience in data engineering database design and ETL processes or relevant
Strong programming skills in SQL Python Java or Scala
Experience with data modeling data warehousing and data lakes
Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop Spark or Kafka
Understanding of cloud services and architectures
Strong understanding of modern data platforms such as MS Azure Databricks
