Job Description

MISSION

This role ensures the safe secure and highperformance operation of Air Liquide s core industrial sites through handson programming system reliability and technical integrity. The Control Systems Engineer is the programming backbone of the team executing system design supporting startups and locking down controls environments with precision and care.


PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  1. Develop and Maintain Control System Code
    Write troubleshoot and optimize PLC/DCS/SCADA code for control systems. The role emphasizes clean accurate programming this is not a paper manager role. Your work directly supports plant performance safety and cybersecurity.

  2. Provide Operational and Maintenance Support
    Deliver 24/7 operational support as part of a rotating team schedule ensuring system uptime responding to control faults and tracking/troubleshooting assets with urgency and precision. Comp time is provided for offhours work.

  3. Support Capital Project Startups
    Travel to new or upgraded sites 4 6 weeks per year primarily during spring and fall commissioning windows. Serve as a key contributor during site startup phases typically supporting 2 3 month schedules distributed across the team.

  4. Lock Down and Secure Control Systems
    Own and improve security measures such as network access hardware control locks firmware upgrades and cybersecurity hardening. Ensure systems are resilient secure and auditable.

  5. Collaborate Across Electrical Operations
    Work from Air Liquide s Dallas flagship facility which houses all three major electrical disciplines. Join a highperforming team of three engineers with tightknit collaboration and deep ownership across hardware systems and cyber layers.

  6. Troubleshoot and Solve in RealTime
    Field technical issues directly from network protocol breakdowns to system slowdowns. Use your knowledge of communication protocols signals and system behavior to keep operations running at full tempo.

Requirements


  • Must have served in the U.S. Army U.S. Navy U.S. Marine Corps U.S. Air Force U.S. Coast Guard U.S. Space Force U.S. Reserves or U.S. National Guard especially those with experience in C4ISR Combat Systems Electronics or Nuclear Propulsion Controls

  • 5 years of direct programming experience in control systems (PLC DCS SCADA)

  • Expertise in industrial protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP OPC Fieldbus Profinet Profibus 420 mA RS232/485 DeviceNet Ethernet I/P

  • Strong understanding of analog vs. discrete signal architecture

  • Skilled in system diagnostics: network communication signal flow and computer performance

  • Proficiency in tools like Task Manager Event Viewer and resource monitors

  • Experience working on site startups commissioning or system cutovers a plus
