Our client is a leading company that provides product development software engineering research and innovative solutions to businesses in Ghana. They act as a hub for training mentoring and guiding individuals and organisations in acquiring technologybased skills bridging the critical gap between laboratory research and marketready solutions.
Your role as the President:
You will primarily be responsible for strategic partnerships between the institute and governmental bodies and other universities/institutions managing operational duties fundraising and setting up the institute by providing visionary leadership.
The ideal candidate
This role is best suited for an experienced educator with a keen interest in technology and innovation along with a strong background in STEM education. You should possess excellent leadership and communication skills be financially astute entrepreneurial and have a passion for Africa s innovation renaissance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a multi channel capital campaign blending philanthropy grants and revenue.
- Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Institute that aligns with its mission to become a leading educational institution.
- Oversee site selection master planning and construction partnerships for a purpose built campus
- Lead efforts to gain accreditation and establish partnerships with other institutions industry leaders and stakeholders.
- Develop an interdisciplinary curriculum that unites deep science with entrepreneurship.
- Recruit distinguished faculty and establish research chairs and laboratories.
- Build collaborations with technology firms multilaterals governments and innovation hubs.
- In consultation with the Board appoint a Provost Deans Chief Financial Officer Chief Advancement Officer and Executive Directors.
- Forge strategic alliances with renowned universities in Ghana and other countries.
- Oversee daily operations to ensure that the Institute operates efficiently while maintaining a focus on longterm objectives.
Requirements
Requirements
- A Doctorate or Masters degree in a STEM Innovation or Policy field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior academic leadership roles at a research university national laboratory or comparable innovation centred organisations
- Experience securing major grants delivering capital projects and commercialising research
- Experience in direct engagement with African policy or innovation ecosystems is preferred.
- Experience in startup environments or in building new programs or institutions from the ground up.
- Willingness to engage in the practical aspects of establishing an institute from administrative tasks to highlevel strategic planning.
- Strong ability to form and maintain strategic partnerships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
- Must be comfortable navigating the challenges of a startup environment
- Must be open to new ideas and approaches in education and administration
- Must be able to inspire others to work towards a goal.
