Job Duties
The Assistant Director of University Events will support a significant part of the Universitysadvancement operation. This individual will work independently to create implement and followup on highend development events and programs including donor cultivation and recognition events events with the President and Board regional activities and dedications. The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring that all events meet thehighest quality standards. The Assistant Director also serves as an event resource for the design and implementation of universitywide events.
The Assistant Director will work cooperatively with colleagues across University Advancement to create and implement events that support the Universitys fundraising objectives. The person will have responsibility for all details of assignedevents and for reporting their progress back to the Executive Director. There will be extensive interaction with highlevel University administrators donors and volunteers as well as some informal supervision of support staff who will assist with the event planning process and other eventrelated duties.
This position requires excellent leadership organizational customer service and communication skills and the ability to work autonomously. The Assistant Director must have good judgment be resultsoriented and donorcentric. This individual must have the ability to adjust to changing priorities and challenges in a busy environment. Must be able to work under pressure of deadlines; must be able to travel locally and nationally as well as work evenings and weekends periodically.
Minimum Qualifications
The employee must be a dynamic and innovative event planner possessing strong organization and interpersonal skills. He/she must have demonstratedexperience working with confidential information in a professional setting; ability to multitask and work under pressure while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy; ability to communicate effectively orally by phone in person and in writing; ability to plan and execute events from conception to delivery; ability to create mail merges; excellent computer skills; willingness to work well as a team player and to work independently; and willingness to receive coaching and feedback when needed.
Additional Considerations
Masters degree. Previous work experience in higher education and fundraising.
