Financial Services Manager Treasurer

Position Summary

The Financial Services Manager directs the financial services for Minnkota Power Cooperative Inc. (Minnkota) and is responsible for the management of the department. This position is in charge of cash and investments debt financings accounts payable and receivable. This position is also responsible for coordinating various duties associated with the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) and other lenders.

The pay range for this position begins at $131026 per year. Appropriate compensation will be determined based on a candidates skills education and any previous relevant experience.

Essential Responsibilities

Departmental Management Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direction of departmental initiatives goals and objectives
  • Responsible for providing support direction and development of employees within their assigned department to achieve both short and longterm initiatives
  • Sets goals monitors work and evaluates results to ensure that departmental and organizational objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of the organization
  • Oversee assigned cost center budgeting and expense accounting

Cash management

  • Manage daily cash needs
  • Monitor and approve borrowings on line of credit
  • Develop cash flow projections

Financings and Investments

  • Recommend borrowing and investment strategies/options to management
  • Evaluate short and longterm financing needs
  • Establish and maintain relationships with bankers and lenders
  • Evaluate financings proposals

Accounts payable and accounts receivable

  • Oversee accounts payable and supplier payments
  • Manage accounts receivable and cash receipts
  • Oversee transportation accounting
  • Manage power billings and annual cost of service

Coordination with RUS

  • Manage preparation of RUS loan applications and loan advance requests
  • Manage drawing down of RUS loan funds
  • Oversee development of construction work plan with Project Management Office (PMO)
  • Manage bondable additions documents

An employee filling this role is expected to meet changing and unique goals and objectives as established by their supervisor related to the broader area in which the employee is assigned.

Job Qualification Standards

Education and Training

  • Position requires a bachelors or masters degree in accounting business or finance. A CPA license is desirable but not required.
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting or finance field; supervisory experience is preferred
  • 5 years of experience in finance or treasury management preferred

Mental demands: While performing the duties of this position the incumbent will be required to problem solve read write and analyze data work under schedules and deadline pressure present information to others work independently and use discretion and judgment for confidential or sensitive projects/issues.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position the employee is exposed to an office environment indoors and will travel outdoors to multiple locations dependent on work. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
