The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is dedicated to transforming young lives creating safer communities and fostering equitable systems. We are seeking passionate individuals for the role of the DJS Assistant Superintendent Residential Facility II so come join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS!

The main purpose of this position will be to assist the Facility Administrator in providing direct management and supervision for the operation of a juvenile facility to include personnel and youth court ordered into the custody of the facility.

Some key responsibilities of this position may include but not be limited to the following:

Assist Facility Administrator in managing the overall daytoday operations of a juvenile facility in accordance with Departmental and Divisional policy and procedures.

Responsible for the daytoday security operations and ensure closer supervision of direct care personnel. Ensures that safety and security are maintained in the facility and that operations are in compliance with laws regulations policies and procedures.

Coordinate staff development and training programs in compliance with the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC) while assuring staffs awareness of the most current trends and practices in the field of Juvenile Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Highschool diploma or G.E.D. certificate recognized by the Maryland State Board ofEducation as required by Correctional Training Commission regulations.

Experience:Six (6) years of experience supervising youth in ajuvenile facility community program for atrisk youth or correctionalsetting including at least two (2) years overseeing staff who provide servicesto youth.

Note:An Associates degree in Criminal Justice socialsciences or behavioral sciences may substitute for up to one (1) year of therequired experience. A Bachelors degree in these fields may substitute for upto two (2) years of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate for this position maypossess any of the following qualifications:

A Bachelors degree in Criminal Justicesocial or behavioral sciences or a related field is preferred.
Knowledge and/or experience working with youthin a treatment setting.
Ability to teach train and build effectiveteams within the facility.
Safety and securityminded with the abilityto implement systems and schedules effectively.
Flexibility with work schedule including theability to work evening hours.
