As an Occupational Therapist heres a bigpicture view of what youll do:
- Provide occupational therapy to patients unable to perform daily tasks due to an illness or injury in nursing homes rehab centers assisted living facilities clinics and hospitals Work with a team of physicians nurses Cnas Pts and Sts to provide excellent patient care Assist physician in evaluation of patient function deficits fall risks and adaptive equipment needs Assess patient establish therapy goals document progress and modify therapy as needed Assist patient with exercises to improve fine motor skills and coordination Educate patients and family on established goals exercises safety and selfcare
A few musthaves for Occupational Therapists:
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and active OT license in Florida. Minimum of 2 years of occupational therapy experience in a medical facility CPR certification and AHCA level 2 experience Knowledge of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations Good clinical judgment strong interpersonal skills resourceful and compassionate
