Job Description

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Student Services the Special Programs Coordinator develops coordinates and assists in supervising programs for special programs students. Provides leadership in articulating and coordinating campus programs and ensuring compliance of State and Federal guidelines/regulations for the requirements of Special Education Section 504 Dyslexia and Emergent Bilingual.

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree preferred
  • Experience in working with 504 Special Education Dyslexia and ESL programs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of district curriculum and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Extensive knowledge of Section 504 Special Education and ELL laws and policies
  • Knowledge of instructional materials and technology and ability to model techniques and strategies
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing instructional accommodations
  • Knowledge of state assessment accommodations for special populations
  • Ability to interpret data

Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   • Assists in the implementation of special programs at the assigned LEA; confers with LEA Director and other Directors of Special Populations
  • Assigns supervises and evaluates the work of departmental staff
  • Assists in identifying programs that need improvement to assist special populations students in meeting the performance indicators
  • Maintains reports for legally required data as requested by Directors of Special Populations
  • Assists in maintaining compliant district special programs with state and federal laws
  • Assists in the acquisition of curricular resources and services
  • Develop and implement training for school staff in the identification of students eligible for services
  • Develop and implement training for school staff in compliant completion of documentation
  • Assists campus administrator(s) to ensure implementation of accommodations
  • Maintains thorough documentation regarding any parent disagreement/concerns
  • Attends relevant professional development.
  • Collaborate with campus administration to ensure ongoing identification and documentation of enrolled target students
  • Monitor and evaluate special programs to ensure that student education objectives are met
