PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Hiring salary $62400 $77800/annually.

Salary to be commensurate with experience.

Were seeking a talented Aquatics Program Supervisor to manage the safety aspects of our recreational water facilities and oversee daily pool operations staff and programs. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Aquatics Program Supervisor is responsible for managing all safety aspects of our recreational water facilities operations. The position will ensure all standard operating procedures are always met. The manager is responsible for the safety of our guests and crew that utilizes the facilities. The Program Supervisor is responsible for the training and certification of their direct reports. This position oversees all water programs for their location aquatics staff one yearround indoor municipal swimming facility and one or more outdoor facilities during the summer months. The Aquatics Program Supervisor oversees daily pool operations including managing daily records lifeguard staff swim lessons aqua fitness inventory chemical testing training reporting and special events. The manager is responsible for the safe opening & closing of all pools daily inspection of the facilities reporting of maintenance issues and coordinates various activities with cross functional teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Supports coordinates and supervises aquatic programs and/or facility staff and activities.
  • Daily inspection of all recreational water facilities reporting & followup of all maintenance jobs required.
  • Maintains a high degree of floor presence to observe operations with strong focus on safety & security. Focus on lifeguard staff rotations children monitoring interaction of lifeguard staff with Guests and enforcement of guest conduct policy.
  • Timely review & resolution of guest comments / complaints
  • Safe & timely opening & closure of pools.
  • Develop training & work schedules.
  • Responsible for the recruiting hiring training evaluation and discipline of assigned full time and VHNE employees.
  • Leads by example to ensure excellent customer service for citizens and program participants by establishing high customer service standards for staff and ensuring a high level of accountability to meet those expectations.
  • Supervises leads and implements a variety of ongoing programs and special events including swim lessons swim teams aqua fitness lifeguard training classes community first aid and CPR classes underwater hockey dog swim event etc.
  • Leads regular periodic training for aquatics leadership and part time staff that cover topics including facility operations safety procedures City of Aurora policies & operations procedures.
  • Sets work priorities and oversees first line supervisors at Aquatic facilities and program staff setting policies and procedures that require staff to provide top notch customer service.
  • Oversees safe daily operations of assigned yearround indoor swimming facility and summerseasonal swimming facility including lifeguard duties water chemistry testing and treatment and programs.
  • In charge of scheduling lifeguard shifts according to safety standards at assigned indoor yearround swimming facility and assigned summerseasonal outdoor swimming facility.
  • Responsible for the scheduling of all full time manager on duty and head guard shifts ensuring proper supervisor coverage is achieved for all operating hours. It is the supervisors responsibility to always ensure adequate coverage and may need to adjust their schedules to ensure proper coverage is achieved.
  • Responsible for ensuring supervised staff have current aquatic certifications. Responsible for in service program of assigned pools ensure staff meet monthly training requirements.
  • Responsible to coordinate their own licenses renewal in a timely fashion.
  • Assists with the supervision leadership and implementation of a variety of ongoing programs and special events including swim lessons swim teams aqua fitness lifeguard training classes community first aid and CPR classes underwater hockey dog swim event etc.
  • Programs swim lessons and additional programs for their assigned locations.
  • Participates in regular ongoing aquatics staff (lifeguard and swim lesson instructor) recruiting. This includes participating in job fairs marketing events visits to local schools etc.
  • Sets work priorities and oversees front line program staff setting policies and procedures that require staff to provide top notch customer service.
  • Conducts and implements needs assessments safety checks programs standards and evaluates program effectiveness.
  • Conduct weekly physical inspection of all lifeguard staff & supervisor issued equipment.
  • Assists in budget preparation and manages revenue and expenses closely to ensure strong financial performance.
  • Develops and maintains records. Ensures compliance with state and local regulations as well as following aquatics industry standards. Prepares administrative reports.
  • May be required to actively guard during operation hours.
  • May be required to teach swimming lessons.
  • Works a flexible schedule that will include night weekend and holiday hours.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge skills and abilities may be considered.

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Recreation Administration or related field.

Experience:

  • Two years of experience in recreation management
  • Three years of supervisory experience


Knowledge: Knowledge of the principles and practices of aquatics programming planning and knowledge of standard aquatic chemical management mechanical equipment and water balance.

Abilities: Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens. Requires the ability to handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy; communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must possess the ability to respond to customer inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

Must have the ability to establish and fulfill goals and objectives; plan organize aquatic programs; supervise and direct the work of employees and volunteers while upholding quality customer service internally and externally. The ability to motivate staff create a positive work environment and hold staff accountable for achieving measurable goals and developing their skills.

Shifts for this position require the candidate to be available to work evenings weekends weekdays and holidays.

Skills: Strong organization management leadership communication interpersonal customer service and planning skills are required.

Licenses Certificates and/or equipment required:

  • Colorado Drivers License with a good driving history.
  • Lifeguard CPR First Aid AED oxygen administration swim instructor certifications Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) required. Certifications must be obtained prior to or within 12 months of hire.
  • Lifeguard Instructor Trainer and swim instructor trainer certifications preferred.
  • You will occasionally use your own personal equipment (i.e. Vehicle cell phone etc.) while on the job.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:

  • Heavy work that involves moving no more than 100 pounds with or without assistance at a time with
  • May require regular standing and walking.
  • May require bending stooping pushing pullingclimbing and swimming.
  • Hand/eye coordination for operation of computer.
  • May require foot/eye coordinationfor operation of motor vehicle.
  • Vision to read reports and other written material.
  • Frequentspeech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.

Work Environment:

  • Works both indoors and outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions noise fumes and chemicals.
  • Work may be performed in a confined space; handles a variety of chemicals fertilizers pesticides and concrete and building material common to maintenance and construction.

Equipment Used:

  • Personal computer with related software applications; may require operation
    of motor vehicle.
  • Operates swimming pool mechanical equipment including pumps heaters filters and chemical feed controls.
