Job Description

Youve stumbled upon the rare B Corp government contractor! At TCG we aim to prove that businesses can be good to their employees and responsible to their community while being profitable. Were an awardwinning IT solutions provider to the Federal government seeking a Data Migration Specialist to plan implement and execute a strategy to migrate data currently hosted in an unstructured NoSQL MongoDB database to a structured database format hosted in a PostgreSQL relational database management system.

U.S. citizenship is required for this role. In addition the selected applicant must submit to a government background investigation and be favorably adjudicated before their first day.

This hybrid position will require a minimum of 3 days onsite each week. The selected applicant must live within commuting distance of Washington D.C.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze existing MongoDB collections to understand data structures relationships and anomalies.
  • Design normalized PostgreSQL schemas to support business and application requirements.
  • Develop repeatable migration processes including extract transform and load (ETL) scripts.
  • Clean standardize and transform data to align with new relational models while identifying and resolving data quality issues.
  • Work closely with technical and nontechnical stakeholders to validate migrated data for accuracy completeness and integrity.
  • Document data mapping transformation logic and migration processes.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years of experience with data modeling and designing relational schemas.
  • 3 years of experience developing migration scripts and ETL processes using Python or similar scripting languages.
  • Demonstrated experience migrating data from NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred) to relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Experience working with unstructured or inconsistent data.
  • Ability to work in an agile or iterative development environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with data migration tooling ETL frameworks or orchestration tools.
  • Familiarity with database performance considerations and testing.

Internal title/grade: Data Analytics Analyst E2
Salary Range: $95000 $125000

All individuals being hired to work for TCG must submit to and successfully pass a preemployment background investigation prior to reporting for their first day of work. The preemployment background investigation will include verification of employment and education as well as a criminal and DMV check.


Additional documentation and background checks will also be required for positions that require clearance from the Federal government.
