Job Description
This role is located onsite in Sanford NC.
- Support clients Manufacturing Scientist and Technology Fermentation Group by supporting microbial organisms growth through fermentation and necessary recovery steps to isolate the bacterial products from fermentation broth
- Execution of lab processes or pilotscale using various scale platforms (250 mL to 150 L) process development and characterization scaleup and tech transfer to commercial manufacturing process simulation and modeling process troubleshooting qualification of alternate raw materials and components new technology development etc
- Preparation of fermentation/ cell culture medium buffer solutions consumable materials etc. as needed to support experiment execution
- Utilizing technical knowledge to identify troubleshoot and assist with resolution of process problems
- Document experiment execution using an electronic lab notebook batch record and/or protocols
- Organize technical data and provide oral presentations or technical reports to communicate results as required
- Prioritize and organize work to meet project deadlines and support team goals
- Work on second or third shift to support fermentation operations may be required on a frequent basis
- Due to close work with specific bacterial strains the following vaccinations will be offered by the company:
- Blood Borne Pathogens (Hep B)
- (Pneumovax 23)
- (Menactra)
- (Tdap)
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Microbiology Biology Biochemistry or other science related degree concentration
- A minimum of 2 years of industry experience is required
- Direct fermentation product recovery (centrifugation Ultrafiltration Depth and Sterile Filtration) and extraction experience (Homogenization pH titrations)
- Experience with fermenters at small scale or Pilot Scale in an industrybased setting is required
- Experience with operating and monitoring of fermentation equipment centrifugation and performing sterile technique is required
- Experience with accurate pipetting and performing serial dilutions is required
- Strong computer scientific and organizational skills
- Valid drivers license and personal transportation
- Must be eligible to work offshift times as needed
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Additional Information :
Position is fulltime and permanent. Base shift is MondayFriday 8am5pm however due to the nature of the work shift work is required as needed.
- Potential to work consistent 2nd shift at times or overnights as needed 2nd shift and 3rd shift work will include a pay differential.
- 40 hour work weeks with overtime as needed
- Shifts will be around 812 hours
- Offshifts will generally be rotated between team members
- Schedule is generally decided the week before
