FLSA Status: nonexempt Job Grade: 3
Status: Part Time Department: Fitness
SCHEDULE NEEDS: Tue/Thu/Fri evenings and Sunday afternoons

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development healthy living and social responsibility. In coordination with the Fitness Director provides excellent member engagement through personal interactions such as talking to members assisting with machines greeting and Smart Start Orientations. The position is also responsible for cleanliness of the fitness center and the recording of equipment in need of service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. PROGRAM MANAGEMENTComplies with all program policies. Encourages members to participate in program activities.
  2. STAFF ENGAGEMENTWorks well with colleagues at all levels.
  3. MEMBER RECRUITMENT & RETENTIONThrough SmartStart Orientation and through member engagement during each shift the fitness floor staff is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming environment.
  4. MEMBER SERVICE & ENGAGEMENTActs intentionally to connect people with the Y cause through our service and engagement principles; Welcome Connect Support Invite.
  5. FACILITY MANAGEMENT Responsible for shift cleaning work and reporting of any equipment in need of repair.
  6. RISK MANAGEMENTAssists with monitoring daily program operations to adhere to all state HIPAA local and YMCA health and safety regulations and procedures including Child Abuse Prevention emergencies medical facility use and disciplinary situations; completes and follows up on Incident Reports.
  7. MISSION & CAUSE ADVANCEMENTAssists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events through event promotion and member engagement.
  8. RELATIONSHIP BUILDINGModels relationshipbuilding skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Maintains regular clear and concise communication within area of responsibility.
  1. Entry requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age
  2. Preferred Bachelors Degree in the field but will consider applicants with appropriate experience.
  3. Must demonstrate an ability to work well people and follow instruction
  4. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
  5. Requirements as of employment: YMCA New Staff OrientationChild Abuse Prevention and Blood Borne Pathogens trainingplus CPR/AED First Aid and Y Leader certifications within 30 days of hire date.
  6. Employee Medical Statement FBI/BCI&I fingerprints done
