Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Kentucky Certificate with endorsements in teaching areas.
2. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Principal
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB GOALS: To help each pupil develop competence in basic mathematical skills and an understanding of the structure of mathematics; to motivate each pupil to apply mathematical understanding and skills in the solution of practical problems; to encourage pupils to develop their special talents in the field of mathematics.
Responsibilities Specific to Teaching Area:
A. Teaches courses in mathematics to middle school/high school pupils utilizing course of study outlined in the Kentucky Program of Studies as adopted by the Board of Education and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
B. Develops lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids stressing handson discovery and laboratory learning methods.
C. Demonstrates mathematical concepts using models chalkboard overhead projector and other standard or teacherprepared instructional aids.
D. Designs learning activities that will relate mathematics to the physical world.
E. Selects and requisitions books instructional aids and instructional supplies; maintains required inventory records.
F. Performs such other professional tasks (within reason) as may be assigned by the principal or Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the superintendent and the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
