Job Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Illinois State University invites applications for a nontenure track faculty position beginning in Fall 2025. We are seeking a dynamic and handson educator with a strong interest in teaching and laboratory instruction.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to:
Teach undergraduate courses and labs in mechanical engineering.
Incorporate handson learning including MATLAB design via CAD drawing and 3D printing into course content.
Support student projects and experiential learning activities.
Contribute to the development of innovative instructional approaches.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

1.0 FTE over 9 month contract: $65000 $70000 commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field

2. Experience with MATLAB CAD drawing and 3D printing

3. Strong commitment to teaching excellence

4. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations

5. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position as mandated by state law.

1. PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
