Position Overview:
The Material Coordinator focuses primarily on assisting planners and project managers on executing production operations. This requires issuing work orders monitoring moving expediting and resolving material issues in support of production to meet production schedules. Organization and communication skills are highly emphasized as major functions of this role to ensure time material supply as well as requesting and coordinating critical updates from production purchasing engineering quality and warehouse to ensure material and information are flowing appropriately to meet our requirements.
Key Job Duties:
- Reviews planned work orders in advance of release to ensure all materials are available. Proactively works to fulfill shortages that would delay work orders from being issued to production.
- Release work orders and ensure planned materials are pulled and staged for upcoming production demand.
- Ensure materials are moved through work centers with emphasis on working to a list of targeted priority items from planners and project managers.
- Provide verbal and written reports on parts status to planning and production management.
- Interface with assemblers buyers and warehouse personnel on job shortages.
- Supports planners with followup on rework parts due to nonconformances and/or upgrades from Engineering Change Notices (ECN) or other Quality/Engineering directed dispositions.
- Works closely with buyers to emphasize the demand for parts and documentation to support production.
- Outside Processing Coordinates materials and processing functions for the efficient preparation and return of outside processed materials needed for production.
- Involved with internal/external supplier availability/ capacity and pursuit of alternate processing options to support ontime delivery to assembly.
- Logistics Acquiring / coordinating materials parts services to ensure efficient arrival to production.
- Generating and analyzing project status and/or project shortage reports.
- Requesting work in process updates to monitor and ensure ontime delivery.
- Frequently communicating with assembly manufacturing purchasing engineering and upper management via email phone calls and face to face conversations.
- Performing root cause analysis and corrective action on late material deliveries to prevent reoccurrence.
- Work with a sense of urgency and closure in regards to influencing ontime delivery throughout assembly manufacturing purchasing engineering quality and outside processing suppliers.
Requirements:
- HS graduate/GED plus college and/or additional education in materials planning and scheduling.
- Minimum of 3 years materials experience in low volume/high mix manufacturing environments.
- Familiar with MRP ERP Microsoft Word Excel Outlook.
- Able to work in a fastpaced environment solid understanding of priorities and multitask.
- Experience in a manufacturing / assembly environment.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings work instructions work orders and a variety of reports.
