Starting Wage:$16.00 Per Hour

Salary Schedule/Lane:86/H

Positions Available: 2 Open Until Filled

This position will work during the summer June 2 to August 29 2025 with the daily schedule MondayThursday 6:00 am4:30 pm.

Note:May not be rehired in any hourly noncontract position in the district without a 6month break in returning to this position may be eligible for a $0.50 pay increase up to Grounds Crew level V of $18.00 per hour.

JOB SUMMARY

The Seasonal Grounds Worker maintains healthy and attractive grounds areas protects against erosion maintains grounds for assemblies and recreational activities (e.g. track football graduation etc.) and ensures assignments are completed in a safe proper and timely manner.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:

  1. Current Utah Drivers License and evidence of insurability
  2. Experience working outside in extreme weather conditions (heat cold snow rain etc.)
  3. Speak read write analyze understand follow and interpret written and verbal communications in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

These are examples of skills and experience that the bestqualified candidates may have. Not having one or all of them does not disqualify any candidate from consideration.

  1. Experience operating landscaping and grounds equipment (mowers trimmers hand tools power tools etc.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work outside in temperatures that may become extreme for the duration of the work shift maintaining landscaping and athletic fields (e.g. mow trim prune weed control fertilize drainage seeding etc.) to preserve grounds in a healthy attractive and safe condition.
  2. Monitor landscaped areas equipment sprinkler systems and grounds (e.g. fields parking areas etc.) to identify repairs and replacement needs maintain schedules and prevent erosion.
  3. Under limited supervision operate grounds equipment (mowers trimmers hand tools power tools etc.) in a safe manner.
  4. Recognize different species of vegetation (e.g. plants shrubs lawn types weeds etc.) to ensure that the care and extermination of specific types is appropriately enforced including using appropriate herbicide calibration and application
  5. Transport various items (e.g. tools equipment supplies etc.) to ensure the availability of materials at job sites
  6. Respond to emergency situations (e.g. oncall duties snow removal etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns and support other emergency response crews
  7. Safely perform physical labor including rolling pushing pulling carrying bending reaching stooping walking and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds and 75 pounds occasionally
  8. Flexibility to perform different tasks and assignments on a continual rotation
  9. Adhere to all district and safety practices procedures and policies
  10. Assist other personnel as may be required for ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
  11. Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees students and stakeholders
  12. Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions as required
  13. Demonstrate professional workplace etiquette and represent the district in a professional manner
  14. Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position
  15. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing pulling climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching crawling and fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting 80% walking and 15% standing. The job is performed outdoors under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and illness.
