Head of Engineering EU, Prime Video Live Sports - Tech Ops

Prime Video is seeking a Head of Technical Operations and Engineering UK for our global Live Sports Production Technical Operations team. The ideal candidate will shape and drive the technical strategy for our international live sports production. You will provide leadership vision and daytoday engineering expertise and technical operations oversight for Prime Video Live Sports international properties. Responsibilities include technical operations design and launch of our international live sports productions including yearoveryear evaluations of existing productions to drive continuous improvement. This role requires a seasoned technical leader with chief engineering background business acumen and experience dealing with vendors that has the ability to deal with ambiguity and a drive to learn and be curious in a highpressure environment that is constantly evolving.

Reporting to the Global Head of Engineering & Technology the successful candidate works closely with our UK Production Operations and Production teams while collaborating with the North American Technical Operations team on global initiatives to ensure seamless production delivery.


The ideal candidate will continue to dive deep into new technology through meetings with vendors and attendance at industry conferences that showcase new best practices and technological advances.


Key job responsibilities
Manage technical vendor relationships for Prime Video Live Sports properties including NBA International UCL EPL Wimbledon Roland Garros and Copa de Brasil
Design and implement technical workflows in partnership with our technical service providers and league partners
Edit and craft technical language for RFPs RFIs and work agreement contracts necessary to execute our productions in accordance with Amazon legal requirements
Work closely with technical vendors and partners to stay current with the latest broadcast technologies
Research design and implement cloud production workflows with our internal AWS partners and SaaS service providers
Oversee and support networking and communications requirements for our live production monitoring platform utilized by our UK team to monitor and communicate with live events in realtime
Work in collaboration with Production Operations group to manage event related technical budget components
Approximately 2530 percent travel both domestic and International. Travel schedule to vary based sport properties season and event schedule.


Experience in Broadcast Technical Operations and Engineering Management.
Indepth knowledge of remote production environments
Knowledge of video audio communications networking camera systems transmission and replay systems
Experience working with multiple stakeholders in live television production environments
Experience educating nontechnical stakeholders and working across multiple teams and regions


Undergraduate degree Electrical Engineering Media Production Computer Science (or equivalent experience in Broadcast Engineering with Management responsibilities.
Experience working on or with largescale network level productions
Experience with industry standard production equipment such as audio consoles graphics systems replay systems production switchers and intercom systems
Working knowledge large scale media networks
Ability to problemsolve and multitask in fastpaced dynamic environments
Extremely detailoriented organized and a team player
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to clearly articulate and document technical processes
Project management experience
