The Probate Division of the Fairbanks Trial Court is looking for a highly dependable individual to help fulfill the mission of the Alaska Court System as a Court Supervisor 3 (salary range 14).

The Position
The Court Supervisor 3 is responsible for the management and supervision of the Probate Division which includes probate children and domestic violence/stalking cases. This position will assist customers in extreme distress incapacitation and/or cultural diversity. The work of the Probate Division serves a vital role in the community to manage cases involving protective services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and directing the work in the division hiring and training employees preparing interim and annual performance evaluations and development plans and developing and implementing a rotation schedule to crosstrain employees. This is a working supervisor position which means assuming desk functions of subordinate positions when necessary and assisting the staff in meeting daily production and deadlines.

The incumbent will review employees work to ensure procedural compliance productivity standards and quality of work product. They will apply and interpret Alaska Rules of Court Alaska Statutes personnel rules and administrative bulletins and oversee the distribution of judicial orders opinions or notices issued to appropriate parties. This position will work with outside agencies attorneys and selfrepresented litigants in processing Child in Need of Aid juvenile delinquency estates adoptions guardianships conservatorships wills trusts mental and alcohol commitments and domestic violence.

This position is assigned to the courts classified service; the incumbent will attain regular status after completion of an initial probationary period.

The Work Hours
This position is scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a onehour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND two years of legal office clerical work experience.
OR
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND four years of office clerical work experience.
OR
A bachelors degree in any field from an accredited college.

Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a monthformonth basis.

Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary paralegal or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical work experience on a monthformonth basis.

NOTE:
Legal office clerical work experience includes service such as a Court Case Manager 1 Court Case Manager 2 Courtroom Judicial Assistant or Chambers Judicial Assistant with the Alaska Court System or work in a public or private sector law office requiring the review and processing of legal documents.

EDUCATION
If postsecondary education is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications you must fill in the Education and Training section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree please indicate the number of credit hours earned in the Degree Obtained field. Copies of academic transcripts will be required at time of interview.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be required to meet the Minimum Qualifications as outlined above. Unfortunately we cannot always interview all applicants. If your application is considered not qualified you will be sent a notice within two weeks after the closing date for this recruitment. If you believe your application was improperly disqualified you may appeal this decision to the Human Resources Director at 820 West 4th Avenue Anchorage AKwithin five workdays from the date the notice is mailed to you. NEPOTISM REVIEW
To avoid a conflict of interest and the appearance of impropriety applicants who have a spouse close relative and/or regular member of their household employed by the Alaska Court System may not be considered for employment without the approval of the Administrative Director.
