Job Description
Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast affordable broadband to a wide range of customers including consumers businesses government agencies and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
The Software Development Engineer will design and develop foundational services that enable Project Kuiper to operate and manage our satellite constellation and ground stations. These services include Contact forecasting and Orchestration Commanding File Transfer and expanding into autopilot programs for satellites in constellations. The systems we build serve a fundamental role in the successful functioning of the satellite constellation and several supporting teams. They depend on us to have missioncritical reliability uptime and performance.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
Develop software systems that meet the mission criteria and requirements.
Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in Project Kuiper.
Help onboard new team members.
Utilize AWS and other Amazon technologies to build highavailable software services.
Export Control Requirement
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
