Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Failure Analysis Engineer you will be an expert in device failure analysis with a strong ability to identify root causes develop effective solutions and communicate findings to crossfunctional teams. Your contributions will directly impact product quality reliability and timelines. Your responsibilities will include:
Being a subject matter expert in device failure analysis with a strong ability to identify root causes develop effective solutions and communicate findings clearly to crossfunctional teams. Lead rapid root cause investigations for failures arising from product testing manufacturing processes and field operations.
Identify failures at both the component and system levels and develop detailed failure analysis plans to diagnose and confirm root causes.
Execute failure analysis plans endtoend from strategy development through handson tool operation in the laboratory.
Write clear concise and actionable failure analysis reports effectively communicating results and recommendations to crossfunctional engineering manufacturing and leadership teams.
Provide expert guidance on issue mitigation strategies contributing directly to the refinement of product designs.
Drive implementation of corrective actions to improve product quality meet hardware reliability goals and support program timelines.
Conduct materials characterization and analysis to support advanced technology development and validation.
Apply your expertise in a wide range of failure analysis techniques while innovating new diagnostic tools tests and more efficient analysis methodologies.
Serve as a technical authority and key influence within the failure analysis team


Experience in developing functional specifications design verification plans and functional test procedures
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Physics Materials Science or a related STEM discipline.
5 years of handson experience in materials and failure analysis techniques including:Materials analysis: SEM EDS FTIRElectrical testing: Oscilloscopes Curve Tracers Source Meters Thermal Imaging andFault isolation: photon emission
Solid understanding of a variety of materials including semiconductors plastics and metals.
Experience conducting failure analysis on devices affected by fatigue vibration shock electrical stress environmental stress and manufacturing or assemblyrelated issues.

Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
Experience with the project management of technical projects
Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to support product development from concept through production.
Masters or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering Physics Materials Science or a related field.
7 years of industry experience in consumer electronics or a related industrial setting
7 years of handson experience in materials and failure analysis techniques including Materials analysis: Xray XRFthermal analysis Electrical testing: TDRs and Fault isolation: Thermal emission Lockin Thermography.
Handson experience performing failure analysis on SystemonChip (SoC) devices with a solid understanding of SoC architectures and manufacturing processes.
Demonstrated ability to identify failure mechanisms and drive root cause analysis efficiently and accurately.
Proven capability to influence crossfunctional teams external vendors and manufacturing partners.
Strong track record of authoring comprehensive technical reports and delivering highimpact presentations.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
