Position:ECCATAcademic Specialist
Location:Central Office
Reports to:Executive Director of Elementary Leadership
Length of Employment:210 days
Salary:As per Berkeley County teacher pay schedule with years of experience and degree level with coordinator index.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution
- Masters degree preferred
- Experience in technology and curriculum preferred
- Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience at the PreK3 level
- Preference given to individuals with experience mentoring or coaching instructional assistants or new staff
- Knowledge of early childhood and primary curriculum programs including UFLI Heggerty iReady and other districtadopted programs
- Strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practice in early childhood education
- Documented experience using assessment data to guide instruction and measure student progress
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and provide individualized support and training
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teachers principals and district staff
- Responsibilities:
- Serve as a coach and mentor to ECCATs (Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teachers) and Instructional Assistants in PreK3 classrooms
- Provide onthejob sidebyside modeling and training in instructional best practices aligned to districtadopted curriculum
- Ensure ECCATs are familiar with and understand how to support implementation of UFLI Heggerty iReady Being a Writer and other instructional programs
- Assist ECCATs in developing skills to support smallgroup instruction classroom routines and student behavior management
- Conduct regular classroom visits and walkthroughs to provide individualized feedback coaching and support
- Collaborate with principals and classroom teachers to identify needs and tailor support accordingly
- Provide small group or oneonone professional learning opportunities focused on the ECCATs role in supporting instruction
- Coordinate and lead ECCATspecific professional development throughout the school year
- Assist ECCATs with understanding and using student data to support targeted instruction
- Promote a positive school culture by building supportive professional relationships with all staff
- Serve as a liaison between ECCATs principals and central office leadership to ensure consistent expectations and support
- Maintain documentation of support provided and progress made
- Stay informed about trends and best practices in early childhood education and instructional assistant training
- Attend meetings and trainings as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Elementary Leadership
