Job Description

Position:ECCATAcademic Specialist

Location:Central Office

Reports to:Executive Director of Elementary Leadership

Length of Employment:210 days

Salary:As per Berkeley County teacher pay schedule with years of experience and degree level with coordinator index.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors Degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution
  2. Masters degree preferred
  3. Experience in technology and curriculum preferred
  4. Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate
  5. Minimum of five years of teaching experience at the PreK3 level
  6. Preference given to individuals with experience mentoring or coaching instructional assistants or new staff
  7. Knowledge of early childhood and primary curriculum programs including UFLI Heggerty iReady and other districtadopted programs
  8. Strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practice in early childhood education
  9. Documented experience using assessment data to guide instruction and measure student progress
  10. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and provide individualized support and training
  11. Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
  12. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teachers principals and district staff
  13. Responsibilities:
  14. Serve as a coach and mentor to ECCATs (Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teachers) and Instructional Assistants in PreK3 classrooms
  15. Provide onthejob sidebyside modeling and training in instructional best practices aligned to districtadopted curriculum
  16. Ensure ECCATs are familiar with and understand how to support implementation of UFLI Heggerty iReady Being a Writer and other instructional programs
  17. Assist ECCATs in developing skills to support smallgroup instruction classroom routines and student behavior management
  18. Conduct regular classroom visits and walkthroughs to provide individualized feedback coaching and support
  19. Collaborate with principals and classroom teachers to identify needs and tailor support accordingly
  20. Provide small group or oneonone professional learning opportunities focused on the ECCATs role in supporting instruction
  21. Coordinate and lead ECCATspecific professional development throughout the school year
  22. Assist ECCATs with understanding and using student data to support targeted instruction
  23. Promote a positive school culture by building supportive professional relationships with all staff
  24. Serve as a liaison between ECCATs principals and central office leadership to ensure consistent expectations and support
  25. Maintain documentation of support provided and progress made
  26. Stay informed about trends and best practices in early childhood education and instructional assistant training
  27. Attend meetings and trainings as directed
  28. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Elementary Leadership

  4. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from various people and interact with the public and other staff.

  2. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Duties are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors. This position requires travel from school to school.

Job performance is evaluated by the Executive Director of Elementary Leadership and can be placed in the personnel file at the Central Office.
