Danvers Public Schools is seeking a Anticipated Elementary Team Chairperson This position reports to the Director of Student Services & Elementary PrincipalPosition Summary:
The Elementary Team Chairperson plays a critical leadership role in managing and coordinating special education services across elementary schools. This position ensures compliance with state and federal regulations supports the development and implementation of highquality Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) provides instructional and programmatic support to staff and promotes effective communication with families and stakeholders. The Chairperson works closely with principals special education staff related service providers and central office administration to ensure equitable and effective programming for all students with disabilities.
Chair initial and reevaluation Section 504 meetings ensuring compliance with federal and district guidelines and appropriate documentation of student needs and accommodations.Key Responsibilities:
Staff Management and Development
Collaborate with principals and assistant directors in the supervision and evaluation of special education teachers and related service providers through formal observations.
Plan and deliver targeted professional development for special education staff to enhance instructional practices and compliance.
Participate in the hiring process for administrative and teaching positions by serving on screening and interview committees.
Provide ongoing support and coaching to instructional assistants and facilitate checkins between teachers and support staff.
Program Oversight and District Procedures
Collaborate with teachers principals and curriculum directors to group students for intervention and refer students for special education evaluations.
Consult with staff to design and support implementation of specially designed instruction for students with academic socialemotional and behavioral needs.
Observe students referred for special education to inform eligibility discussions and instructional planning.
Attend biweekly meetings with the Director of Student Services to develop and review programs address individual cases and assess budgetary impacts.IEP Process and Compliance
Coordinate all aspects of the special education evaluation process including initiation of paperwork provider testing and scheduling of Eligibility Evaluation meetings.
Chair all elementary Eligibility Evaluation meetings and ensure compliance with regulatory timelines and procedures.
Maintain a centralized calendar and ensure timely delivery of meeting notices and communications.
Lead weekly status meetings with special education English Learner and nursing staff to review student progress and maintain compliance with district state and federal standards.
Oversee IEP development and implementation ensuring alignment with student needs and district practices.
Serve as a point of contact for families throughout the IEP process and provide support to ensure transparency and collaboration.
Participate in mediation and settlement conferences with the Bureau of Special Education Appeals as needed.

Masters degree in Special Education Educational Leadership or related field required.
Current and valid Massachusetts DESE licensure as a Special Education Administrator or equivalent.
Minimum of five years of experience in special education with leadership or coordination responsibilities preferred.
Strong knowledge of special education laws and best practices.
Excellent organizational interpersonal and communication skills.
