Job Description

Elk Island Public Schools is recruiting a fulltime (1.0 FTE)Senior High teacher at Next Step Sherwood Park. T he successful candidate will manage all different high school courses for ScienceMath 10C 103 201/2/3 ELA 101/2 201/2 supporting independent learners in a flexible studentcentered environment. Must be proficient in Project Based learning within Math/Sciences. Experience teaching all levels of Science/Math/ELA level courses and preparing students for Diploma exams an asset. Proficiency with Learning Management Systems particularly Brightspace and/or Google Classroom is essential. The ideal applicant is not only a master of content delivery and organization but also excels at building meaningful connections with atrisk youth and families. Passion adaptability and a commitment to personalized learning are key. Experience and understanding working at an Outreach are an asset.
Next Step Sherwood Park provides flexible outreach programming for grades 7 to 12 students with nine teaching staff and five support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park AB.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education degree
Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
Effective organization and classroom management skills
Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe supported and challenged
Excellent verbal and written skills
Experience or familiarity analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice
Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals
