Job Description Summary

Conduct independent collaborative and multidisciplinary research in computational remote sensing applying advanced machine learning techniques to a variety of problems arising in ecology conservation and sustainable development applications relevant to IRSC research priorities in collaboration with Drs. Pal Pauca and Miles Silman. This includes developing research questions developing and testing code designing experiments analyzing data and publishing findings.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Implement advanced machine learning algorithms perform research experiments and maintain accurate and complete records of that research.
  • Contribute to the technical training of undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
  • Contribute to the intellectual life of the Sabin Center
  • Communicate effectively with faculty department chair and students.


Required Education Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Ph.D in Computer Science or a related field.
  • A strong research track record including publications in peerreviewed journals and presentations at conferences.
  • Experience teaching collegelevel courses
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills as well as the ability to think critically.
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages and software tools.

Preferred Education Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Research background in computer science or related fields


Accountabilities:

  • Reports to CS Department Chair as well as Drs. Miles Silman and Pal Pauca.
  • Responsible for own work.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to carry out field research as needed


Environmental Conditions:

  • Subject to inside environmental conditions.
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions in field settings.
