Job Description

All State Communications LLC Journeyperson Technician

Job Purpose:

At All State Communications LLC the Journeyperson Technician classification will be determined and monitored by the current IBEW 110/292/294 Agreement. A Journeyperson Technician will have acute knowledge of all installation & service any system outlined in the current IBEW 110/292/294 Agreement Article 1 Section 1.04 Scope of Work. A Foreperson will work on various data communication projects in areas including Healthcare AudioVisual Voice/ Data and other technologies and must demonstrate initial crosstraining on multiple applications and may supervise multiple lower tier classifications.

The Journeyperson Installer/ Technician at All State Communications LLC is responsible for pulling cable terminating cable and splicing as well as the testing of cable installation of devices and to assist in the testing of the system cut over
time. The Journeyperson Installer/ Technician has several years of experience has completed an apprenticeship program and is able to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.

Salary Range for This Position: $85000$113651.20 Based on relevant experience education and other factors

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with a team and assist the Project Manager with accomplishing daily tasks essential to timely and scheduled completion of projects.
  • Demonstrate ability to accomplish assigned tasks on schedule.
  • Demonstrate installation methodology in wire pull device installation wire pathing and other tasks as they are assigned.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of systems upon which factory certification is achieved.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of Beacon Communications policies procedures and guidelines.
  • Provide accurate daily timeentry according to Beacon Communications policies.
  • Overnight travel as necessary.
  • Provide daily reports to Supervisors and/or Project Managers on work completed and issues related to project completion.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Beacon projects and work toward advancement.
  • Wear Beacon shirts provided by Beacon Communications.
  • Arrive for work on time dressed in a professional manner.
  • Realizing that customer relations and customer satisfaction is our primary goal performing in a professional manner demonstrating courtesy and respect to Beacon customers.
  • Specialty tools will be provided on an as needed basis. Technicians will be responsible for providing hand tools in accordance with IBEW Local 110/292/294 Limited Energy Agreement section 5.02. Technicians will be responsible for providing reasonable care in protecting and maintaining all tools.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot or isolate problems in systems which an Installer is factory certified or possesses a strong understanding of.
  • Attend and take part in the weekly safety discussion.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of lowvoltage related installation considerations and techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Detailoriented and organized.
  • Excellent problemsolving ability.
  • Ability to follow highly complex directions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use power actuated hand tools i.e. hammers drills saws.
  • Ability to see a full spectrum of color for correct wire identification.

Education License and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or approved equivalent.
  • Holds an OSHA 10 or higher certification as well as thorough knowledge of guidelines covering the NEC and TIA/EIA standards.
  • Completion of a minimum of 2000 hours per IBEW 110/292/294 as a Senior Technician.
  • Completed a Union 110/292/294 advanced networking class
  • Obtained one of the following or similar: NICET III Fire BICSI Technician or Advanced Security Industry Manufacturer Certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires sitting prolonged standing walking handling gripping pushing pulling and reaching over head with force. Also requires stooping crouching crawling on knees and work along floors/sub floors.
  • The ability to physically transport ladders up to 12 feet in height and lift ladders off vehicle roof racks. Must be willing and able to climb and stand on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Frequently lifts and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds sometimes overhead.
  • Maintain a clear background check to satisfy customer job site badging requirements.
  • Willing to submit to all vaccinations and screening tests required for customer jobsite badging protocol.
  • Maintain a clear drug and alcohol screening protocol.
  • Maintain a valid Drivers License.

Travel Requirements:

  • 2030% travel in the Midwest region as needed.
