Job Description

Overview

Maintain an accurate perpetual just in time inventory of products utilized by the clinical laboratory. Organize and develop an effective ordering inventory and distribution plan to facilitate timely and cost effective delivery of laboratory services. Maintain global inventory to assure all technical areas have sufficient supplies to support required testing. Develop inventory system to effectively manage and report inventory activity and distribution of supplies to laboratory client base. Assure product distribution in accordance with laboratory compliance guidelines.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school graduate required.

Experience:

  • Prior materials management system experience strongly desired basic computer skills required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with inventory control and product distribution systems desired.
  • Interest and experience in developing effective safety education programs desired

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be highly organized and efficient displaying responsibility and dependability.
  • Moderate to high physical effort; should be able to routinely lift 50 to 100 lbs and push/pull large transport carts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of effective body mechanics and ergonomic required.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop maintain and execute an effective inventory/ordering and distribution system.

  1. Performs routine cycle count on department inventory; investigate and resolve all variances.

  1. Oversee effective returned goods system evaluate distribution reports to assure accurate posting of vendor credits.

  1. Maintains strict compliance with all regulatory issues with regard to laboratory inventory and client distribution.

  1. Maintains accurate laboratory storeroom inventory utilizing hospital materials management system and Lawson inventory control program.

  1. Performs outdate checks on a regular basis throughout the laboratory storeroom with respect to laboratory items i.e. blood drawing tubes etc.

  1. Acts as a resource for all laboratory staff in regard to supplies acquisition and storage.

  1. Works closely with the purchasing department and vendors to secure the most cost effective supply acquisition processes possible.

  1. Informs/updates departments of purchase changes additions or deletions.

  1. Works closely with technical department management teams and administrative director to improve efficiency and achieve overall cost reductions.

  1. Performs housekeeping and maintenance duties in the laboratory storeroom as required.

  1. Coordinates timely consolidation collection and retrieval of storage records and equipment from all laboratory locations to the storeroom for warehouse pickup.

  1. Assures client supply requests are completed promptly with appropriate supply distribution guidelines to assure compliance with all local state and federal guidelines.

  1. Assumes responsibility for the inventory and ordering of reference laboratory supplies.

  1. Works directly with department managers and administrative director to review operating and distribution statements to assure effective compliance with budgetary guidelines.

  1. Maintains appropriate records publications and supplies needed for adequate and compliant laboratory safety.

  1. Assists in maintaining compliance with all guidelines regarding laboratory safety.

  1. Contributes to effective customer relations by assisting patients visitors physicians to resolve expressed concerns and by demonstrating a welcoming and helpful attitude.

  1. Ensures that professional and personal activities conform to Memorial Medical Centers Strategic plan and Mission Vision and Values.

  1. Performs other related work as required or requested.
