Description / Position Overview

Analyst II Special Events & Community Engagement

About this Job: You will play a key role of the Parks Recreation and Culture Services department by managing all aspects of event and program planning for Citywide events and events held within Cityowned park sites. In this position you will make a real impact in the community by overseeing the operations of event planning for the City.

Work Schedule:
Monday Friday; occasional weekend and evenings based on event scheduling

Learn more about the department: an Analyst II you will:

  • Administer reservation and permitting processes for commercial filming block parties vendors and all cityowned parks.
  • Serve as liaison between event promoters and the City of Colorado Springs
  • Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of special events coordinated within the City; measure report and analyze results of events
  • Provide on site supervision of largescale events; monitor and improve the quality of the event services
  • Coordinate internal department events such as Get Outdoors Day Park and Rec Month ribbon cuttings groundbreakings festivals and other department celebrations
  • Manage invoice creation and payment tracking for all events
  • Facilitate collaborative planning discussions with park personnel and coordinate site visits to ensure all events run smoothly
  • Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of special event development and administration
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Operations services and activities of a comprehensive event planning program.
  • Principles practices and techniques involved in managing and evaluating special events.
  • Business development solicitation and recruitment of events in new markets.
  • Community relations marketing contract administration public relations and public speaking.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Analyze problems identify alternative solutions project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals
  • Research analyze and evaluate new service delivery methods and techniques
