Job Description

The Deputy Director of Facilities Management provides strategic leadership and daytoday operational oversight of all university facilities infrastructure and grounds. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Facilities or the Vice President of Administration the Deputy Director is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of maintenance construction custodial and environmental services that support the mission of the university.


Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations including maintenance repair capital improvement projects and space management.
  • Serve as secondincommand of the department acting on behalf of the Executive Director as needed.
  • Oversee capital projects renovations and infrastructure upgrades from planning through completion.
  • Assist with the preparation monitoring and execution of departmental budgets.
  • Ensure costeffective allocation of resources and compliance with financial procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Supervise preventative and corrective maintenance activities for all campus facilities and systems including HVAC plumbing electrical and life safety.
  • Promote and implement sustainability practices in energy usage waste reduction and resource management.
  • Manage mentor and evaluate supervisory staff and skilled trades personnel within facilities services.
  • Oversee training programs succession planning and employee development to maintain a highperforming team.
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and employment policies where applicable.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA EPA ADA and other regulatory standards.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness weather response and disaster recovery efforts.
  • Coordinate with IT campus police environmental health and academic departments on facilitiesrelated needs.
  • Support special events and university operations through logistical planning and facilities coordination.


Education

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Facilities Management Construction Management or related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 710 years of progressively responsible facilities or operations experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to respond to afterhours emergencies.
  • Must be able to work in diverse environmental conditions including exposure to all weather (rain sleet snow heat).
  • Must be available for afterhours emergencies holidays and oncall responsibilities as needed.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
