Job Description
Purpose Statement: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Athletic Director and Physical Education Teacher to join our vibrant school community at West Bay Christian Academy. This role offers the opportunity to inspire young minds while integrating biblical principles through physical education and athletics fostering both academic and spiritual growth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students of all ages and creating engaging interactive athletic and P.E. programs. Join us in shaping the next generation of leaders thinkers and creators in a supportive and enriching environment.Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Head of SchoolPosition Type: FulltimeResponsibilities and Duties:General:
- Attend staff meetings and participate in schoolwide events and activities
- Exemplify professionalism in behavior and performance
- Invest in professional growth and development
- Participate in weekly Management Leadership Team meetings
- Organize and administer the schools athletic programs to align with our schools mission vision and core values
- Administer the athletic calendar including games practices team activities and facility availability/conflict as well as confirming plans for student transportation
- Confirm all upcoming events including coordination with officials and opposing teams
- Coordinate concessions at certain athletic events including staffing and cleanup
- Manage scheduling and communications with groups that rent WBCA facilities and the soccer field. Submit monthly facility usage logs to the business manager for billing
- Supervise all coaching staff to ensure alignment with school policies expectations and values
- Ensure compliance with requirements for all coaches and studentathletes prior to participation in practice or athletic contests as required by WBCA and the RI Interscholastic League
- Manage athletic budgets and purchase equipment and uniforms as necessary
- Develop positive parent relationships through clear and effective communication
- Be a consistent and supportive presence at WBCA sporting events
- Represent the school at athletic scheduling meetings including those with RI Independent League and RI Interscholastic League
- Develop and deliver highquality Physical Education lessons aligned with the National Physical Education Standards and Rhode Island state frameworks for preschool through 8th grade
- Ensure that the Health educational component of our program as required by the State is being taught to the students at each grade level
- Implement daily lesson plans that engage and motivate students
- Integrate Biblical principles into all aspects of the program including curriculum instruction relationships and discipline
- Develop and maintain a safe and supportive environment conducive to effective learning activities and appropriate to the maturity interest and abilities of students
- Use various tools to assess the growth and achievement of students on a regular basis and submit grades for progress reports and report cards as required
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students
- Maintain a wellorganized safe and accessible gym storage area
- Collaborate with the business manager to plan and execute the annual Field Day event at the end of the school year
- Committed Christian aligned with the Academys Mission and Statement of Faith actively attending a local church
- Bachelors Degree
- Commitment to a Christian Philosophy of Education
- Possesses the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students parents staff and other outside agencies or local school districts
- Current Physical Education Teacher Certification
- ACSI Certification
- Prior coaching and/or classroom teaching experience
- College credits in biblical studies
- Students are experiencing academic growth evidenced through daily classroom work and progress monitoring
- The teacher and parents are collaborating and working well together on behalf of each student
- Responsibilities for this role are being met at a high level as demonstrated through the teacher development process
