Description

Position Title: Assistant Womens Soccer Coach Department: Athletics

Title of Immediate Supervisor/Leader to Whom This Position Reports: Head Womens Soccer Coach

*Expected Daily Work Hours: 8:00am 5:00pm *Expected Weekly Work Schedule: Monday Friday

* College offices are normally open from 8:00 AM until 5:00PM Monday through Friday. However due to the nature of responsibility to the student body individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening or weekend hours. Nonexempt employees will normally work 8 hours per (any hours more than 40 per week) for nonexempt employees is required to be approved in advance by the department supervisor. Exempt employees will typically work at least 40 hours per week and such additional time as may be reasonably required to fulfill the obligations of their position description. Such additional work may include evenings and weekends and should be described in this document.

Summary of this position:

Assists the head womens soccer coach in carrying out all assigned and auxiliary duties of the womens soccer programs. This position is a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Clery Act.

Minimum Qualifications Required: (please be specific and respond to every question; indicate none if not applicable)

Education required to ensure success in this position:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field required..

Experience required to ensure success in this position:

  • 1 2 years of related coaching experience.

Special skills knowledge and abilities:

  • Maintain working knowledge of and utilize effective administration practices of the College Athletic Department policies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across a diverse range of backgrounds including cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

License certification or registration necessary:

  • Valid Tennessee Drivers license is required or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
  • Maintain the MC transportation driving requirements for the school fleet.
  • Pass the NCAA rules test yearly and maintain certifications in First Aid & CPR as required by the NCAA.

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds including large athletic facilities.
  • Regularly required to communicate effectively and clearly in both verbal and written communications.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • It is expected that the individual in this position will work at times other than or in addition to normal business hours and days including attendance at numerous evening and weekend events particularly during game season.

Environmental conditions:

  • Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors students staff and faculty. Mostly indoors.
  • Includes some overnight and outofstate travel mostly by bus van or car.

Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:

  • Standard office equipment: computer phone etc.
  • May be required to operate vehicles college vans/cars/carts

Primary duties and responsibilities (Typically 7 primary duties comprised of 80% of the responsibilities):

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Assistant Coach:

  • Assists in the recruiting of all potential student athletes.
  • Manage the Hudl video editing program.
  • Complies fully with NCAA Conference and Maryville College policies.
  • Establishes good rapport and generates respect among students campus colleagues and the local community by conducting oneself in an ethical manner.
  • Assists in the supervision scheduling and maintenance of facilities.
  • Attends all practices meetings and contests.
  • Assists in filing all reports relating to womens soccer as assigned by the head coach.
  • Assists in the selection training and supervision of student assistants and managers.
  • Assists in the organization and supervision of all offcampus trips.
  • Maintains office hours as assigned by the head coach.
  • Serve as a Game Manager for select home athletic events.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May supervise student workers. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive respectful learning environment for all staff faculty and students.
