The Kahn School of Law at High Point University is currently seeking a fulltime faculty appointment Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
Responsibilities will include:
- Under the supervision of the Law Dean serving as the primary law school administrator responsible for the academic affairs of the School of Laws J.D. program.
- Serving as a faculty member of the School of Law with the associated responsibilities for teaching and scholarship.
- Leading the development implementation and continuous improvement of the School of Laws academic programs in accordance with ABA standards.
- Overseeing faculty recruitment retention evaluation and professional development.
- Managing academic policies curriculum development and course scheduling.
- Ensuring compliance with all accreditation requirements.
- Fielding questions and concerns from students relating to the J.D. curriculum and academic policies.
- Working with the law school Dean of Students to oversee the academic integrity (honor code) standards for law students.
- Fostering a culture of academic excellence and innovation in legal education among law school faculty and staff.
- As assigned and when appropriate serving as the Deans representative on university and external committees; standing in for the Dean at meetings; and taking on any other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate from an ABAapproved law school
- Significant relevant legal education and/or legal profession experience
- Willingness to contribute actively to the mission vision goals and objectives of the School of Law and the University
- Keen attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal task management time management decisionmaking and written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior academic administration experience in a law school
- Academic professional and scholarship background suitable for tenure in the School of Law
Essential Functions:
- Administrative and oversight responsibility for J.D. program including working with the law faculty on the development and management of the curriculum the creation of the course schedule and teaching assignments.
- Helping to build and maintain a collegial and collaborative environment for faculty and a positive healthy learning environment for students.
- Assisting the Dean in the annual evaluation of faculty and in managing the School of Laws tenure and promotion process.
- Developing and maintaining an indepth uptodate knowledge of the Universitys academic and extracurricular programs and policies and of the relevant policies and processes of accreditation and bar admissions requirements relevant to the School of Law.
- Supervising select law school staff as assigned by the Law Dean.
