SUBSIDIARY: The Center for Autism (CFA)

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Behavior Consultant is the link between The Center for Autism and the community and is responsible for individual and family therapy. The Behavior Consultant collaborates with the Team Leader to make clinical decisions and directs interventions. This position reports to the CORE Assistant Director.

Reports to: CORE Assistant Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze behavioral data administer assessments develop clientspecific treatment plans and collaborate with the treatment team concerning the implementation of the treatment plan.
  • Coach the team to deliver highintegrity clinical services with fidelity to the CFAdetermined clinical model to clients within the assigned treatment setting.
  • Share time between providing centerbased programming and providing inhome and community services to an identified caseload of children and families. Ensure that interventions are consistent and skills are generalized across settings.
  • Strive toward the clients achievement of the goals specified in the treatment plan and record data regarding the behavior and progress of the client the involvement of the clients caretakers and reports of unusual incidents as required by relevant laws policies and procedures.
  • Provides in home and/or community settings provide childcentered and familyfocused supportive services family therapy education and advocacy as agreed upon by the therapist and family. Work toward helping each family come to terms with their childs diagnosis and implement treatment goals that are relevant to the home and/or community settings.
  • Determines With the family and other professionals the clinical need for special evaluation and services that are beyond the scope of the Centers services. Such services might include referring a child/or family member for psychotherapy case management social services or other community resources.
  • Collaborate with the family and other involved professionals to develop and implement intervention plans/treatment goals for the provision of unified services and continuity of care between the centerbased program and the home environment.
  • Participate in planning for transition to school for clients approaching kindergarten age including educating parents about the transition process supporting them to be advocates for their child and attending IEP meetings to support parents.
  • Observe and interact with each child on the assigned caseload. Collaborate with the childs treatment team to keep abreast of progress in the centerbased program and to obtain information that will assist in developing effective intervention strategies for the home/community environment.
  • Review treatment plans with parents and obtain parental input about the treatment plan.
  • Share progress at home with the treatment plan team.
  • Facilitate Treatment Plan Review and Interagency Service Plan meetings as scheduled.
  • Develop implement and participate in all educational and therapeutic activities aimed at educating family members and including all family members in the treatment process.
  • Attend trainings as scheduled and read assigned materials.
  • Lead treatment team meetings for assigned clients/caseload.
  • Attends staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift clients and supplies
  • Ability to play on the floor and run with/after clients

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year of fulltime equivalent postmasters degree experience in programs for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) under 21 years of age

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Education/Experience

  • Be licensed in this Commonwealth as a psychologist professional counselor marriage and family therapist clinical social worker social worker behavior specialist certified registered nurse practitioner or a professional with a scope of practice that includes overseeing the provision of ABA services and have one of the following:

i. A certification as a BCABA or other undergraduatelevel certification in behavior analysis that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute.

ii. A minimum of 1 year of fulltime experience providing ABA services and a minimum of 12 credits in ABA from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the equivalent from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the Association of International Credential Evaluators Inc. or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

iii. A minimum of 1 year of fulltime experience providing ABA services under the supervision of a professional with a certification as a BCBA or other graduatelevel certification in behavior analysis that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute and a minimum of 40 hours of training related to ABA approved by the Department or provided by a continuing education provider approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.

    Pennsylvania State Criminal History Report Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Criminal History Report.
