Job Description

Position Summary:

Are you passionate about shaping future business professionals
The University of Daytons School of Business Administration seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Lecturer to inspire the next generation of business professionals. This nontenure track position is a ninemonth appointment beginning August 16 2025 with opportunities for renewal and promotion. About the Role

In this dynamic role the successful candidate will receive a competitive salary with full benefits including health dental and vision insurance retirement disability support for a dualcareer program for spouses of prospective and newly hired faculty a relocation package and tuition remission benefits. Additionally Lecturers may choose to participate in the universitys promotion process leading to Principal and Senior Lecturer statuses. This is a ninemonth renewable position with an early starting date; typical ninemonth contracts are from August 16 to May 15.

You will teach 12 credit hours of engaging business courses each semester over two semesters including the following:

  • BIZ 201 (Business Cases and Communications) a 3hour course that introduces firstyear School of Business Administration students to core business functions. Teaching this course involves using realworld cases and scenarios to illustrate business operations and communication expectations. You will guide students in developing critical thinking and essential communication skills such as writing professional emails and memos leading meetings and delivering presentations.
  • BIZ 202 (Career Flight Takeoff) a 1hour course that focuses on career development for secondyear School of Business Administration students. As an instructor youll teach resume building interviewing and networking skills to help students achieve their career goals. The course is typically offered in the Fall semester.
  • BIZ 301 (Successfully Navigating Your Career Flight Plan): This 1hour course prepares thirdyear School of Business Administration students for postgraduation success. You will impart skills and knowledge for evaluating job offers personal financial literacy and workplace expectations. The course is typically offered in the Spring semester.

These impactful courses are designed to provide students with a robust foundation in business disciplines and essential communication skills preparing them for internships and postgraduation success.

  • Deliver highquality instruction in undergraduate business courses.
  • Foster an interactive and collaborative learning environment.
  • Engage outsideoftheclassroom with colleagues across the School of Business Administration and the broader university community.
  • Participate outsideoftheclassroom in university committees and contribute to the ongoing development of the business curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A graduate degree and five years of professional business experience or an undergraduate degree and ten years of professional business experience.
  • Successful teaching or presentation experience in businessrelated content.
  • Effective written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree from an AACSB or EQUISaccredited business school.
  • Successful experience in one or more of the following:
    • teaching undergraduate business students.
    • mentoring undergraduate business students.
    • developing strategies that foster student engagement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software programs.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Effective classroom management skills
