Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
To assist in collecting and processing donations in the Food Recovery Program while practicing good stewardship of donated resources. The worker will serve local agencies and businesses sort incoming products and assist in Family Services operations.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The incumbent may perform all some or similar range of duties.
Clean and repackage recovered food.
Pick up and process donated resources by unloading sorting placing and loading donated items. Work with clients in food distribution.
Contribute to the safety of staff and clients (e.g. clear fire exits no obstacles inside/outside the building clean spillage and assist in maintaining facility cleanliness).
Take responsibility for accurately completing all client intake and recording into the system.
Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working environment is typically in the corps building in generally agreeable conditions and some outdoor duties.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
May deal with upset people or challenging behaviours.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures.
Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.
Education Qualifications and Certifications:
Completion of High School.
CPR First Aid and NonViolent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.
Experience and Knowledge:
Up to one year of related experience.
Skills and Capabilities:
Represent the organization in a positive professional and engaging manner.
Exhibit good listening and interpersonal skills have strong oral/written communication skills.
Understanding of individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
Good team player.
Good oral and writing skills.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $21.66 with a maximum of $25.99.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
