Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detailoriented Reinsurance Accountant/Financial Analyst to join our team reporting directly to the VP of Reinsurance. This role blends technical accounting responsibilities with financial analysis requiring a solid foundation in accounting principles and sharp analytical skills.

The ideal candidate will have 3 years of accounting and financial analysis experience with a strong track record of preparing financial reports compiling financial statements and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities include managing monthend and yearend closings maintaining the general ledger reconciling accounts processing accounts payable and receivable preparing tax filings and conducting financial data analysis to support business decisionmaking.

We are looking for a quick learner and proactive problemsolver with excellent Excel and reconciliation skills strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across departments.

Job Duties

  • Drive financial accuracy through the preparation and analysis of general ledger journal entries and account activity.
  • Lead the monthend close process ensuring timely and insightful financial reporting that supports strategic decisionmaking.
  • Perform detailed reconciliations to maintain the integrity of financial data across all accounts.
  • Oversee cash management activities including the monitoring and maintenance of Trust Account balances for optimal liquidity and compliance.
  • Conduct indepth rate adequacy assessments and analyze loss experience trends to support risk evaluation and pricing strategies.
  • Prepare and submit accurate timely regulatory filings in accordance with industry and government requirements.
  • Collaborate on highimpact special projects that enhance financial processes reporting capabilities and organizational efficiency.
  • Other duties that may be assigned by leadership

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree with 3 years work in accounting and financial analysis preferably within the insurance or reinsurance industry
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
  • Experience with reinsurance accounting including understanding of treaty and facultative contracts (preferred but not required).
  • Proven ability to prepare financial reports statements and reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present financial information clearly to nonfinancial stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP pivot tables and data analysis tools.
  • Understanding of databases and data extraction
  • Experience working with General Ledger Programs. QuickBooks and Oracle are a plus.
