Job Description

Reports To: Principal

Duty Days: 187 Days

Wage/Hour Status: NonExempt

Pay Grade: IS03

Qualifications:

Bilingualmay berequired for respective positions

College hours for Title I campus 48 required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test

College hours high school diploma or GED for NonTitle I campus

Communicate and work with students

Maintain effective working relationships

Minimum clerical skills

Good physical and emotional condition

Work with confidential material

Paraprofessional aide certificate required once employed

Please Note: Additional Qualification for Title I Campus:

College hours 48 minimum or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test

Primary Purpose:

Assist the teacher with instructional needs as appropriate

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist teachers with the preparation implementation and data collection of student academic behavioral and functional goals accommodations modifications and delivery of supports
  2. Deliver accommodations modifications and other supports to students with special education services in whole group small group or individually as described in the IEP.
  3. Assist teachers with classroom management and behavioral plans. Perform other duties as assigned.
  4. Maintain confidential student records.
  5. Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
  6. Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks media equipment desks and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist nonambulatory students. Expose to biological hazards.
