Job Description


Associate Contracting Specialist


What you will be doing:

The Associate Contracting Specialist assists the Service Line in developing a project plan for assigned product categories from member need identification to contract execution and management which includes spend analysis financial modeling direct negotiations internal and external terms and conditions collaboration presentation creation for Sourcing Committees and contract management within Premiers sourcing technology platform. Financial modeling includes supplier spend analyses tier impact analyses and financial analyses for assigned product categories. The Associate Contracting Specialist provides input into the sourcing process and strategy and executes the process on multiple low to medium complexity categories. The Associate Contracting Specialist is an entry level position in the Contracting organization of Premier where the individual is provided with a support system to grow in the role on an individual and team basis. This position participates and contributes to performance improvement initiatives and special projects is focused on leadership and development and is exposed to various experiential activities that will broaden the individuals experience and perspective.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility #1 60%

Contracting Core
Sources low to medium complexity product categories
Develops an understanding of the full sourcing process
Executes simple contract analytics
Develops an understanding of Premiers Terms and Conditions
Develops and recommends strategies for negotiations
Develops supplier spend analysis price tier analysis and recommends tiers for assigned product categories
Support analysis and process to maintain cross reference product codes spend intelligence RFI
Assists or leads the creation of RFPs
Communicates with suppliers
Support contract negotiations redlines
Completes pricing / savings negotiations
Creates PowerPoint presentations that provide succinct and informational messages
Validates the completeness of suppliers product and pricing files
Assists in the development of award recommendations
Assists in the creation of the final contract
Input and manage contract attributes in Passport
Completes ad hoc reports related to contracting
Mine data to identify contract growth opportunities
Forecast contract administrative fees
Manage supplier compliance with reporting of administrative fees & supporting sales data
Execute contract amendments for term changes tier changes product additions price changes

Project Management
Adheres to the milestones and cycle times outlined in product category workplan
Monitors progress of assigned tasks in product category workplan
Identifies and informs management of deviations from product category workplan and timeline and updates systems to reflect status accordingly
Identifies and communicates resource needs on a timely basis to the appropriate level
Ensures accuracy and completeness of own work
Identifies critical issues for risk management with clients and informs management of these critical issues
Participates in sourcing meetings to ensure a seamless integration throughout the sourcing process

Participates in performance improvement projects
Gains a fundamental understanding of Lean and Six Sigma
Contributor or new ideas defects waste and quality
Participates in efficiency and automation ideas

Learning and Development
Serves as a mentee to Contracting Specialist
Participates in projects and programs assigned to team
Actively seeks opportunities to become familiar with the sourcing strategy to increase knowledge of sourcing terminology and depth of product knowledge
Completes required curriculum work
Demonstrates integrity innovation accountability and ownership in work
Demonstrates intellectual curiosity selfmotivation and positive thinking

Responsibility #4 10%

Special Projects
Successful completion of assigned low to medium complexity projects that broaden knowledge and skillsets
Evaluates special project assignments for efficiency opportunities and escalates findings
Identifies and communicates standard work opportunities
Completes and maintains special project guides as needed

Responsibility #5 10%

Experiential Activities
Exposed to multiple Sourcing Service Lines and gains experience in sourcing multiple product categories
Gains initial exposure to supplier relationships
Participates in Premier Hospital Simulation training/local distribution site visit


Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience 0 or more years

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (Required)



Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

Project Management

Experience:

2 years applicable experience
Coursework in purchasing or supply chain healthcare logistics materials management finance operations project management technology business intelligence tools leadership training
Active participation in professional memberships such as AHRMM ACHE ISM
Volunteer work in activities that advance the supply chain profession

Working Conditions: Air conditioned office space


Travel Requirements: Travel 120% within the US


Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.


Premiers compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable equitable and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premiers internal salary range for this role is $43000 $79000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including but not limited to departmental budgets internal equity education unique skills/experience and geographic location. Premier utilizes a widerange salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
