Job Description
The farm is in its early stages which means you wont just be maintaining what already exists youll help shape the land systems and rhythms of this place from day one. With guidance and support youll gain handson experience in land prep planting infrastructure setup and traditional food practices rooted in Indigenous values.
This is a parttime hourly role with flexible work hours. Some evening and weekend work may be required based on project needs. The pay rate for this position is $21 an hour.
Who You Are
- Ideally you bring lived or professional experience working with diverse populations particularly within Native American communities.
- You have an interest in generative farming and land stewardship understanding how Indigenous foods medicine and plants may be used for ceremony.
- You have the ability and willingness to do physical work outside in all weather.
- You are a strong communicator who can engage with business owners and team members.
- You are adaptable flexible and able to manage changing priorities without compromising the quality of your work.
- You are consistently punctual reliable and dependable in support of your team and clients.
- You possess a current Oregon or Washington drivers license and the ability to be insured under NAYAs liability insurance policy (i.e. no more than one major driving violation in the last three years).
What Youll Do
- Assist in preparing new farm plots including shaping beds and prepping soil
- Plant weed harvest and process produce and First Foods
- Help establish key infrastructure like irrigation and composting systems
- Care for culturally significant plants like camas berries tobacco. and other medicines
- Support food distribution efforts to Elders and community members
- Participate in seasonal projects such as seed saving soil building and ceremonies
- Join in regular team checkins trainings and cultural learning sessions
