Position: Civil / Structural Department Manager
Job Summary: Manages a team of civil engineers and designers and oversees their projects. The manager reviews cost reports time sheets engineering reports and project schedules to maintain overall schedules and ensure work is completed on time. This position typically has a wide range of responsibilities which can include coordinating with clients to ensure the design meets their needs and specifications scheduling and overseeing activities to ensure that deadlines are met monitoring project budgets to ensure costs are within reasonable limits and reviewing plans for design flaws and making recommendations for improvement. Most of the time spent in this position will consist of performing civil/structural calculations for a variety of industrial and commercial projects. Generally responsible for performing all aspects for complete design of complex civil/structural engineering assignments. Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience in civil/structural engineering and involves applying advanced engineering techniques and analysis.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and application of common industry standards (ASCE AISC ACI PIP etc.).
- Expertise with civil/structural analysis software including operating and interpreting results.
- Knowledge of the disciplinespecific methods practices and techniques required to engineer design and construct process and manufacturing projects.
- Able to lead a small to large team to deliver on commitments.
- Able to deliver convincing presentations on company services.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Virtual team skills and crossdivisional relationships are developed and able to provide interoffice execution leadership and support.
Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
Registration: Texas Professional Engineering registration ability and willingness to register in other states as needed.
Experience: This position requires at least 810 years of relevant industrial experience in civil/structural engineering.
