Do you have a passion for training and a proven and credible background in designing and delivering training products within a policing environment

As a trainer within the Specialist Investigative arena you will use your extensive knowledge of investigations (in particular any understanding or experience of delivering Crime Scene Investigations learning programmes). You will have a history of working collaboratively with colleagues partners and communities utilising your prior knowledge and experience to assist you in researching designing and delivering learning and development programmes.

You will work alongside investigative training colleagues on a regional and national level to ensure that our programmes are of the highest quality and support operational delivery. By joining the team you will have an exciting firsthand investigative influence on new officers joining WMP who are undertaking training within our specialist learning programmes.

WMPs People Services Department are seeking creative training methods to be more inclusive to our workforce and you will be responsible for devising new approaches to delivering learning to wider audiences through a variety of means using technological and interactive methods where possible.

You will be an excellent communicator being able to deal effectively with people on a one to one basis and large groups. You will be able to demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism in accordance with our standards and Diversity and Inclusion strategy.

Skills Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

  • An experienced trainer with operational operational understanding;
  • Working knowledge of the College of Policing Crime Scene Investigator programmes;
  • Understanding of the PIP 1 & 2 learning programmes with a sound working knowledge of the relevant operational legislation practice and procedures.
  • Trainer to have training qualifications as a minimum of PTRLDP/TEP and/or a Level 3 Award in Education and Training preferable a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training.
  • A working experience of using and building training programmes within IT systems that incorporates utilising windowsbased applications.

Desirable:

  • Experience in working within a PIP 1 volume and priority crime arena;
  • Delivered or designed a Crime Scene Investigator training programme. Preferable to have a understanding and knowledge of PIP 2 learning programmes.

Prospective officers and staff must be held to a higher standard of behaviour and accountability than members of the public and that therefore their right to privacy can be fettered in certain circumstances. This is to ensure that members of the police are fully aware and accountable for the unique powers entrusted to them and the standards of professional behaviour they swear to uphold.

Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Hours: This is a fulltime position working between core hours of 08:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday.

Location: Tally Ho Training Centre Edgbaston
