Summary:
Conduct due process hearings as the Superintendents designee for student discipline matters and oversees operations for the central office.
Qualifications:
- Valid Postgraduate Professional License with endorsements in Administration and Supervision PreK12 required
- A minimum of 5 years of recent successful experience as a teacher administrator and/or experience in student support services
- Comprehensive knowledge of laws rules and regulations related to student behaviour conduct and an individuals rights and responsibilities including disciplinary appeal processes
- Experience in special education preferred and an understanding of administering procedural safeguards
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with all categories of employees and the public
Essential Duties:
- Consult with students parents and administrators on disciplinary issues when action is necessitated beyond the school level
- Ensure legal rights of students are upheld
- Adhere to statutory and regulatory timelines
- Collaborate with special instructional services and student support services to address needs of students with disabilities in regard to disciplinary practices and IDEA
- Review discipline cases and appeals to ensure completeness of documentation submitted including due process measures and special education eligibility
- Conduct discipline hearings
- Render a decision on each case and communicate that decision in writing to parties involved
- If the decision is appealed to the School Board prepare and forward a statement of the administrative position
- Work collaboratively with other departments regarding student placement discipline and services.
- Communicate with the divisions legal counsel as needed to ensure compliance with existing federal and state guidelines and statutes
- Conduct entry meetings for new students with significant disciplinary history and render decisions regarding student placements decisions.
- Provide resources and training to administrators and other staff that is related to disciplinary matters as well as implement divisionwide discipline procedures and practices.
- All other duties as may be assigned through the Executive Director of Policy and Legal Services
- Manage School Board Office operations to include supervision and oversight to couriers front reception desk and SBO custodians
- Serve on the school divisions crisis response team and health and safety committee.

The salary range is $89511$147401
Contract:
Full time / 12 months / 245 days
