Citra is a Swiss company at the forefront of innovative building technology. Our proprietary construction methods enable rapid highly resistant and durable building solutions. We are committed to supporting Ukraine in its reconstruction efforts with an initial focus onresidential housing. Citra plans to deploy a mobile factory in Ukraine aiming to produce 1500 housing units annually. Citra has applied for a reconstruction grant from theSwiss Government. Should the funding be approved Citra will need to rapidly expand its team in Ukraine. Since the operations would then be backed by international funding strict adherence to international reporting standards and full compliance with all relevant regulations would be required. The Citra Ukraine team will be an integral part of ourinternational organization working in close collaboration with our experienced South African team of architects engineers and project managers who will oversee significant aspects of planning and project management.
Role Summary
Citra is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Resident Engineer to play a foundational role in establishing and overseeing our technical operations in Ukraine. This is a crucial dual role focused on the localization and certification of both Citras proprietary Building Technology and our advanced Production Technology & Automation systems for the Ukrainian market combined with onsite technical leadership. The successful candidate will be the primary technical expert responsible for adapting our international standards to meet Ukrainian codes managing the certification process and then providing handson technical oversight during the setup of the mobile factory and the initial implementation of our technologies on construction sites. This individual will pave the way for future technical team expansion and will work closely with our international engineering teams and local stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Building Technology Localization & Certification:
Thoroughly analyze Citras existing building system specifications materials and design methodologies.
Identify all relevant Ukrainian building codes standards (DSTU SNiP etc.) and technical regulations applicable to residential construction and innovative building systems.
Lead the process of adapting Citras building technology documentation designs and material specifications to comply with Ukrainian requirements.
In close collaboration with Citras international engineering team and other partners manage the entire certification process for Citras Building Technology in Ukraine including preparing and submitting all necessary technical documentation liaising with Ukrainian certification bodies testing institutes and Citras inhouse laboratory facilities where possible and relevant authorities.
Collaborate with Citras international engineering and R&D teams to address any technical queries or modifications required for localization.
Production Technology & Automation Localization & Certification:
Gain a deep understanding of Citras mobile factory design production processes machinery and automation systems.
Identify all Ukrainian standards safety regulations and certification requirements applicable to manufacturing plants machinery and automated production lines.
Lead the technical adaptation of the mobile factorys operational procedures safety protocols and quality control measures to meet Ukrainian standards.
Together with partners manage the certification process for the Citra Production Technology & Automation systems including the mobile factory itself and its key components as required by Ukrainian law.
Work closely with the international team responsible for the mobile factorys design and deployment to ensure all localization and certification requirements are integrated.
Resident Engineering & OnSite Technical Oversight:
Provide onsite technical expertise and leadership during the setup commissioning and initial operation of the mobile factory.
Oversee the practical implementation of the localized and certified building and production technologies on the ground ensuring adherence to approved specifications and quality standards.
Act as the primary onsite technical point of contact for resolving issues related to Citras building and production technology during initial project phases.
Troubleshoot technical challenges encountered during the deployment and early operational stages of the factory and first construction projects.
Support the Head of Construction and Production by providing technical input on sitespecific engineering matters.
Collaborate with the Project SHREQ Manager to ensure technical aspects of safety and quality are correctly implemented for the new technologies.
Technical Documentation and Compliance:
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation in Ukrainian (and English where necessary) related to the localized building and production technologies.
Ensure all technical activities documentation and onsite implementations strictly comply with local laws international funding requirements and Citras internal quality standards.
Establish a system for managing technical documentation certifications and compliance records.
Stakeholder Liaison & Future Growth:
Act as a key technical liaison between Citra Ukraine Citras international engineering teams Ukrainian regulatory bodies certification agencies and local technical consultants.
Stay updated on any changes in Ukrainian technical regulations and standards that may impact Citras operations.
Contribute to the onsite training of future technical staff and construction teams in Ukraine on Citras localized technologies and processes.
Support the Head of Construction and Production and Country Manager with technical insights for strategic planning and operational adjustments.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education: Masters degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering Structural Engineering Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering Automation Engineering or a closely related technical field.
Experience:
Minimum of 57 years of professional engineering experience with a significant focus on technical compliance product/system adaptation and certification processes within Ukraine.
Proven experience in working with Ukrainian building codes (DSTU SNiP etc.) and/or industrial/manufacturing standards and certification procedures.
Demonstrable experience liaising with Ukrainian state certification bodies testing laboratories and technical regulatory authorities.
Experience in preparing technical documentation for regulatory submissions.
Handson experience in a sitebased engineering role overseeing the implementation of technical systems or construction projects. Experience in commissioning of new equipment or facilities is highly advantageous.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of engineering principles related to building structures construction materials OR manufacturing processes and automation.
Ability to interpret complex technical drawings specifications and regulatory documents.
Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g. CAD software).
Language Proficiency:
Excellent command of written and spoken Ukrainian and English is essential.
German proficiency is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in both building/construction engineering AND industrial/production engineering.
Specific experience with certification of new building technologies or manufacturing equipment in Ukraine.
Familiarity with automated manufacturing systems and industrial robotics.
Experience working in an international company or on projects involving international technical collaboration.
Project management experience or certification.
Ukrainians living in Switzerland with a Status S permit will be given preference.
