About this Role:
As a Principal Test Engineer youll be using your enthusiasm and knowledge of testing practices to help us deliver high quality products leading the testing in a scrum team to ensure quality throughout the process. Youll be working on both new and existing systems based on SQL Server and C# Services.
You will define and improve our practices and ways of working. Mentor and coach members of the team to ensure everyone is working to and improving on high standards.
To help project teams leading the Testing effort to ensure the delivery of highquality products and services for TransUnion through the application of professional testing techniques knowledge and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
- Process ownershipfor test processes and procedures leadcontinuous improvement in this area ensuring the processes/proceduresare effective.
- Collaborate effectively with the other Principal TestEngineerstoensure consistency of practices and leadership for the Test Community
- Providesubject matter expertiseto other departments around TransUnion in how to perform testing and ensure quality in their approach.
- Take responsibility for the optimisation of the testingbeingperformed at all stageswithin the product teamsand ensure this is done in an efficient andeffective manner following best practices.
- Learning/L&D strategy put forward guidance on the overall direction (where there are departmental level needs) in a timely way to support overall learning needs analysis cycles.
- Competencies actively contribute to future versions of the Development Organisation Framework andadviseon industry trends wed want toconsider when creatingnew competencies.
- Supportrecruitment provide guidance on interview questions/approaches/scenarios feed in gaps in overall test function that recruitment could resolve support the interview process.
- Providecoaching and mentoringto individual testers contributing to individuals development plans
- Able to adopt aleadership rolewithin the Product teams in both a test management and wider sense contributing to (and leading where appropriate) scheduling planning and design activities.
- Work with relevant stakeholders tocreate test approaches appropriate to the context of the releaseand product product team strategies are consistent with wider test community strategies.
- Ensure thatstatus reportingis done effectively keeping stakeholders up to date with test progress using appropriate forums/mediums.
Skills and Experience:
- Commercial experience of leading and managing teams involved in testing activities
- Ability to motivate and inspire teams and successfully introduce improvements through for example the adoption of best practices
- Commercial experience of testing software or database solutions within an agile development lifecycle
- Passion for quality excellence and delivering the right thing Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Problem ownership and resolution
- Collaborative approach to testing passionate about testing throughout the development lifecycle
- Experience of test automation techniques
- Performance Test approach and understanding.
- Willingness to learn new technology skills and testing techniques to keep pace with improvements in testing process.
- Commercial experience of interacting with the wider business/stakeholders to advise promote and consult on testing principles and activities.
- Experience of BDD/ATDD techniques.
- Technical skills related to test automation.
- API/Web service testing experience.
- Experience of performance/load/security/usability testing.
This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as inperson at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
