A wellknown and successful Florida based construction company is currently seeking a detailoriented and organized Staff Accountant to join the accounting team. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in managing financial records ensuring compliance with accounting standards and supporting projectspecific financial reporting. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles familiarity with constructionspecific financial processes and the ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
Process accounts payable and receivable ensuring timely and accurate invoicing payments and collections.
Assist in job cost accounting including tracking project budgets costs and profitability for construction projects.
Monitor and allocate costs to specific construction projects ensuring compliance with contract terms and industry standards.
Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial reports including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements.
Support payroll processing including prevailing wage compliance and certified payroll reporting for construction projects.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting for construction projects and overall company operations.
Ensure compliance with GAAP tax regulations and industryspecific financial requirements.
Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and support for project bidding and cost estimation.
Participate in audits providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Maintain accurate records for fixed assets depreciation schedules and equipment costs related to construction activities.
Perform adhoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management.
Bachelor s degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
2 years of accounting experience preferably in the construction industry.
Knowledge of constructionspecific accounting practices such as job costing percentageofcompletion accounting and progress billing.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks Sage 300 Construction or similar platforms).
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience with payroll processing and compliance with prevailing wage laws is a plus.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with project managers vendors and other stakeholders.
CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required.
