Position Purpose:
The Principal Energy Market & Sustainability Analyst is a key part of Veolia energy management team responsible for providing buyside energy consulting support to commercial & industrial energy users maintaining good working relationships with customers.
The purpose of this position is to provide advisory services to large commercial industrial and municipal energy consumers. This includes advisory functions on: a) energy market fundamentals; b) supporting transactions to buy / sell physical energy or renewable energy agreements; c) understanding and communicating impacts of state & federal regulatory affairs that will impact client energy costs; d) providing tactical advice on physical energy flows for natural gas and power supply; e) negotiation and recommendations for renewable power purchases f) provide general energy consulting and advisory services on wide range of energy topics and; g) assist with business development opportunities.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Report to Director Energy Markets & Sustainability.
- Provide energy market direction and advice for North American clients including advice for structuring of energy products timing and strategy for conventional retail energy products and renewable energy products.
- Consult clients on matters involving carbon accounting carbon mitigation strategy and renewable energy products and services including RECs PPAs VPPAs etc.
- Have practical experience managing customer generation assets such as daily nominations of gas scheduling of resources and/or management of demand response assets in wholesale markets for energy capacity and ancillary services.
- Core knowledge of the natural gas supply market is required. Knowledge or experience with renewable natural gas and related offtake agreements is a plus.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients by providing account management scheduling budgeting and reporting transactional support consulting services Core knowledge of regional structure for power pricing and costs within different RTOs in North America is required. Operational knowledge or experience managing wholesale assets is a plus (generation load demand response FTRs).
- Support team on energy consulting projects by conducting market research developing opportunities modeling and writing.
- Facilitate decisions with clients regarding the optimal energy product to be procured including drafting of procurement specifications advising on decisions to buy cash/spot or fixed positions contracting term and other details defined within an energy supply contract.
- Advise and support analysis of energy regulation including policy implications and modeling of energy tariffs for power and gas including rules and operating procedures of ISOs.

Qualifications :
Education/Experience/Background:
- BS/BA required preferably in Business Math Accounting Engineering or related field.
- Masters degree is preferred.
- 7 years of energy market experience at any of the following: enduser organization in an energyprocurement role energy supplier or energy focused consulting firm.
- Financial or economic knowledge/experience is a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Great PC and Microsoft Office skills strong Excel Word Google products.
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills required.
- Attention to details and ability to review materials for accuracy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of SQL Power BI is preferred.
Additional Information :
Pay Range: $100000 to $150000 per year.
