Job Description
AECOMs West Region is actively seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Project Engineer to join the Orange California GeoCivil team. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on very challenging projects including Dams Levees Pipelines Bridges Tunnels Building Structures and other Facilities and collaborate with a wide range of different disciplines.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Oversee subsurface investigations including drilling exploration boreholes and advancing CPTs at various sites throughout Southern California
- Review and assign laboratory testing for geotechnical samples
- Oversee inspection of construction activities to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans specifications and construction standards
- Perform and oversee geotechnical analyses including slope stability seepage settlement earth retention liquefaction and shallow and deep foundations
- Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations
- Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work
- Prepare and/or peer review designs specifications and construction documents
- Assemble and document geotechnical data using software that includes: Excel Word gINT AutoCAD
- Apply QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of the project team
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree plus four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Candidate must have a valid drivers license
- Professional engineering license or ability to gain one within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree or PhD in Civil Engineering
- Ten (10) years or more of experience
- Geotechnical California GE registration is a plus
- Working knowledge of relevant California seismic code provisions
- Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution
- Local travel may be required
- Experience working with local permitting jurisdictions
- OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper Certification
