The Sam Noble Museum Archaeology Department seeks an experienced biological anthropologist or bioarcheologist to carry out analysis of ancestral remains from archaeological sites that are subject to the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). This work will include skeletal assessments to determine the minimum number of individuals age and sex. This position will also facilitate the preparation of ancestral remains for repatriation and review museum documentation and other sources to identify associated funerary objects. The successful candidate must demonstrate a sensitivity to and respect for diverse systems of belief while participating in consultations with tribal representatives archaeologists and officials from local state and federal agencies. This position will work under the supervision of the NAGPRA Program Coordinator and in collaboration with the Curator of Archaeology.
Essential Duties:
This fulltime 12month annually renewable professional staff position willwork under the supervision of the NAGPRA Program Coordinator and in collaboration with the Curator of Archaeology.
