JOB DESCRIPTION
As the General Manager of our Colchester location youll be the driving force behind our mission to provide exceptional service and products that help our customers homes grow. Youll lead a team dedicated to creating a welcoming shopping experience across our diverse departments including Pet Supplies Farm Products Wild Bird and Garden Center offerings.

- Create an Exceptional Customer Experience Providing phenomenal customer service is the key element to Mackeys success. As General Manager you are the leader who ensures the best customer experience possible while maintaining the best work environment possible.
- Drive Operational Excellence Lead seasonal merchandising setups identify sales and promotional opportunities ensure proper execution of receiving and stocking processes and maintain store presentation standards.
- Nurture Team Growth Develop and support team members to maximize their potential in their roles through training coaching and creating growth opportunities.
- Build Community Connections Represent Mackeys within the Colchester community strengthening relationships and positioning our store as a trusted local resource.
- Champion Innovation Identify opportunities to enhance customer experience improve operations and implement creative solutions to evolving retail challenges.
- Cultivate a Positive Culture Create an environment where team members feel valued empowered and united in our mission to help homes grow.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential Qualifications:
- 3 years of retail management/leadership experience
- Proven track record of leadership team development and driving business results
- Strong operational knowledge including inventory management merchandising and financial performance
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with customers and team members
- Experience managing multiple departments and diverse product lines
- Proficiency with retail technology POS systems and Microsoft Office (Excel Word and PowerPoint)
- Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and some holidays (minimum 45 hours per week)

Work Environment:
Mackeys is a fastpaced retail environment that involves continuous interaction with customers team members and the ongoing evolution of the store. Responsibilities require active movements that include reaching bending and lifting. Product weights range from 560 lbs. with occasional variances due to product condition. Seasonality of the business and corresponding product offerings involves exposure to varying temperatures and allergens. Environment requires spending a prolonged period of time on her or his feet standing or walking continuously between breaks.
Days/Hours Requirement:
Mackeys is a yearround retail operation with spring and holiday peak seasons. As a retail business our best days of the week are Saturday and Sunday. Therefore candidates must have availability from 8 a.m.7 p.m. with weekday and weekend flexibility. This position requires a minimum of 45 hours per week.
Other Requirements: Willing to comply with preemployment screening which may include but not limited to drug testing reference verification and background check.
